WELCOME to the 28th Year 
of The Saturday Tutoring Program!

The Saturday Tutoring Program hopes to see you at our annual Kickoff Orientation, in Church of the Covenant's downstairs dining room, THIS SATURDAY, September 9 at 10:00 a.m.!

  Attend this interactive training session to: 
1) share your wisdom with new and returning tutors; 
2 ) become familiar with materials, procedures, and "best practices."

The Saturday Tutoring Program 2017-18 Schedule:
(1st semester) tutor orientation: Saturday, September 9, 10:00 a.m. - noon;
10 consecutive tutoring dates: September 16 through November 18, 2017
(2nd semester) tutor orientation: Saturday, January 20, 10:00 a.m. - noon;
10 consecutive tutoring dates: January 27 through March 24, 2018

DIRECTIONS to The Saturday Tutoring Program: The orientation session and the weekly tutoring sessions are held in the downstairs dining room of Church of the Covenant, 11205 Euclid Avenue, across the street from University Hospitals, across the lawn from CWRU's Thwing Center. (Enter the parking lot from Euclid Avenue. From the parking lot, enter the building by going down the patio stairs, facing large, brightly-colored signs.)

NOTE: For those unable to attend this orientation session, please know that abbreviated orientation sessions are held each Saturday of tutoring at 9:15 a.m. You'll register, get oriented, and tutor an elementary or high student for two hours that same day.

Bring your Backpacks and join us THIS SUNDAY, 
September 10th as we kick off our 2017-2018 program year at Chruch of the Covenant with a special worship service, Backpack Blessing, and a community picnic featuring an East Coast Custard truck. 

Guest preacher the Reverend Dr. Ken McFayden
Dr. McFayden is the Academic Dean of Union Presbyterian Seminary and Professor of Ministry and Leadership Development. His book, Strategic Leadership for a Change, describes the importance of processing the grief that comes with change even as we move strategically toward an unknown future.

 Covenant Student Ministries will be holding a time of prayer, reflection and dialogue for students, faculty, and staff of CWRU, CIA and CIM to drop in. Join us in The Connection Center at Church of the Covenant as we gather to make sense of the world around us. Everyone is welcome to come in for a time of reflection or prayer, to light a candle, or to talk 1 on 1 as we continue to wrestle with the issues of immigration and exclusionary policies of the current administration.

Our Chaplain will be present the entire time and happy to sit with people in silence, chat, and offer radical hospitality as we show the campus community in University Circle that they are truly welcome here!! All people of any or no faith or religious tradition are welcome!!

Make Music at Covenant!
If you are looking for a musical outlet and a place to make a spiritual expression in sound, join us! We have many opportunities for you: Covenant Choir, Handbell Choir, Sound and Recording Engineering, Play an Instrument, or assist with Children's Music Ministry.

Help Out Around the Church!
Student Office Assistant - We are looking for student volunteers to sit at the front desk in the church office to greet visitors, answer phones, data entry, and other office tasks. Contact Kevin Lowry for more information at klowry@covenantweb.org.
Nursery Volunteer - Are you great with babies and pre-school kids? We are looking for student volunteers to help us in our nursery on Sunday, mornings. For more information contact Rev. Melaine Marsh Baum at  MBaum@CovenantWeb.org

Saturday Tutoring 
The Saturday Tutoring Program provides free tutoring services for students in  grades 1-12 from twenty-one school districts throughout Greater Cleveland.  Tutors and students cover a variety of subjects including math, reading, and  science. Community Meal
Sunday, September 24th -- 11:15 a.m.
The Connection Center at Church of the Covenant
Covenant Student Ministries hosts a FREE Community meal, once a month  during the academicyear, following the 10:00 worship service. This community  meal is open to undergraduate,graduate, and professional students, as well as  members of the Covenant community. The Covenant Chefs create a gourmet  home cooked meal that will fill your stomach and warm your soul. Good Food -- Great Community -- No Strings Attached!
