Summer Roundtable:
Let's Talk!

Pastor Kathy Haueisen & Carol Flores talk about their book, "A Ready Hope"
Our summer series of discussions is currently focusing on Disaster Preparedness. This Sunday, we will talk with Pastor Kathy Haueisen and Carol Flores about their book, "A Ready Hope: Effective Disaster Ministry for Congregations." After having experienced Hurricane Harvey last year, we want to focus on how we can be prepared in the event of another disaster situation. Come to the Community Room at 9:30 am for this discussion!
Cleaning & Hygiene Supply Donations Needed!
As part of our Disaster Preparedness efforts, we are collecting cleaning and hygiene supplies to make disaster relief kits. Get the list of needed items HERE or pick one up in the lobby. We will take collections through July 29, and hopefully assemble the kits on July 22 & 29, along with some discussion on how Covenant can be a resource and safe haven in the event of a disaster.
Vacation - Office Update
Office Manager Sue Tabbert will be out on vacation next week (July 16-20) and back in the office on Tuesday, July 24. There will be limited volunteer coverage of the office during that time, and Pastor Ele will be at a training July 16-18. Thank you for your understanding!

July Schedule:
Summer Roundtable: Let's Talk!
This summer we will come together during the 9:30 am Education Hour to discuss a variety of topics of concern to us as individuals and as a Covenant community.
Hurricane Season has arrived, so July is the perfect time to talk about how we can be prepared, as individuals and as a church community, in the event of a hurricane. The Synod website offers some great resources. Make sure you and your family have all the necessary supplies to be a "72 Hour Lutheran." See the usher table near the sanctuary entrance for some free resources!

July 15: Pastor Kathy Haueisen and Carol Flores will lead us in a discussion their book, "A Ready Hope: Effective Disaster Ministry for Congregations."
July 22 & 29 We will be collecting cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products to make disaster preparedness kits, and putting the kits together, as well as discussing how our facility can be used as a resource and safe haven during a crisis. Please join us!

The whole family is invited to be a part of these informal sessions!

Farewell & Godspeed Reception for Rebecca - August 5 at 9:30 am

Plans are underway to show our thanks and best wishes to Rebecca for her wonderful contributions to our community and worship and music experiences at Covenant. Plan to attend on Rebecca's last Sunday with us, August 5 at 9:30 am.
Godspeed to Rebecca McDonald!
Covenant is sad to announce that our director of worship and music, Rebecca McDonald, is leaving us. Rebecca has been prayerful and deliberate about this change in the course of her ministry to the church, and as a congregation, we affirm her need to make this change at this time. Rebecca’s life-long commitment to worship and music in congregational settings has blessed many over the years, and we pray God’s richest blessings for her as she takes on new challenging roles in her personal life.

Covenant is picking up the pace on a search for a leading musician. We are open to conversation with anyone who is interested in exploring this opportunity to serve. Referrals are welcome. We are taking a flexible approach to filling this position, since we know that skills and approaches vary. A draft job description will follow an initial conversation with Pastor Ele. Contact Pastor Ele (281-698-0681).
Back to School Drives!
Covenant has been asked to help with back-to-school supplies and financial donations for area students.  Please help with one of these programs. Your donation will assist families and teachers, reduce the stress level that may be attributed to financial hardship, as well as put a smile on a child's face who will now be ready to attend school starting this fall!  See the brief outline of needs below.
