It is the time of the year where students may find themselves a bit overwhelmed in the home stretch. Stop what you are doing right now and shoot your student a text. (This can also be accomplished through a phone call or email.) Remind students to buckle down and stay focused because it is really easy to lose focus when spring is in the air. (And our weather is amazingly balmy and gorgeous right now!) A little support will go a long way as they finish out the semester. Be sure to remind your students that you are thinking about them and available if they need anything.
Also, remind them to REGISTER for summer/fall classes. Ask them if they have met with their advisors. Registration is happening NOW and classes fill up quickly. This semester has flown by particularly fast and summer is right around the corner!
Super Bulldog Weekend is this weekend and Starkville puts on a spectacular Cotton District Arts Festival (CDAF), celebrating Starkville and life. Plan your trip if you haven't already. For more information about the CDAF, visit www.cdafestival.com. For more information on Super Bulldog Weekend, visit www.hailstate.com/sbw.
If your student has not made plans for the summer, it is not too early (or too late!) to start thinking about the break between spring and fall.
Some summer suggestions:
- Volunteer
- Travel
- Work or Job Shadow
- Take classes at a local community college
- Plan a stay-cation (Rediscover your local area!)
- Catch up on reading
- Reconnect with the outdoors
Please call or email me (662.325.3611/[email protected]) with any questions or concerns. I always appreciate hearing any ideas/suggestions on how our office can better serve you.

Students will sign up for a check-out appointment time after the floor meeting or at least 24 hours in advance with an RA in their building. Failure to do so will result in an improper check-out charge ($50). With exception to graduating seniors, the residence halls will close for summer

. Before the check-out appointment time, students must do the following:
- Remove all personal items from the room
- Empty the trash

- Clean the room
- If applicable, set the bedroom air conditioning unit thermostat to low cool fan speed and the middle of the temperature range (70 Degrees)
- Close the windows (if applicable)

- If you miss your scheduled check-out appointment time with your RA, it is an automatic $25 re-scheduling fee.
Failure to properly clean the room and complete the list of action items above will result in penalties and cleaning charges which will be posted to the student and/or the student's roommate's student account. Any damages to the room will also be charged to student's accounts.
