Fall Pictures Tomorrow! 
Kids, please remember Fall Pictures are being taken on Wednesday, August 19th.  This is a "dress up" day, as ALL students will be photographed. These pictures are for our Yearbook, so please be sure to look your best!  For those parents that would like to order their pictures online be sure to g o to www.mylifetouch.com .  Log in with your Portrait ID and Access Code located in your picture package.  We are requesting that if you are sending your order with your student that you NOT send cash.  Please make checks or Money Order payable to Lifetouch.  Thank You!

DH Family Night at Chuck E. Cheese 

We hope that you can join us tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 19th from 3-9pm at our DH Chuck E. Cheese Night at 67th Avenue & Bell Road!  This is a great opportunity to meet new DH families, as well as our staff!  This is a great fundraising event, and all proceeds will be directed to purchase new books for our classrooms  in support of our reading program.  Be sure to bring your flyer so that you can receive extra tokens!  We hope to see you there!

Transportation Assistance 

We have a DHCS parent that is needing assistance with Transportation for their  child.  If you live in the area of 35th Avenue North of Greenway and are able to help out please contact Debbie Hamza @ [email protected] or (602)896-2900 option 6.  Thank you!

Parent Back to School Night 

We hope that you can join us Monday August 24th for our Back to School Night!  This will an informative evening for everyone.  See flyer for details. 

Teacher In-Service/NO SCHOOL 

Just a reminder parents that due to Teacher In-Service there will be NO SCHOOL on September 3rd and 4th.  For those families that will be needing Child Care, the Preschool will be offering a Day Camp for students on September 3rd.  Please see flyer for more details.  Please note, there will also be NO SCHOOL on September 7th in observance of Labor Day. 

Goodies for Grandparents 
Grandparents, we hope that you can join us at our Flag Ceremony on September 11th @ 8:15am at the Fishbowl.  Our kids will have some special surprises for you, so you definitely don't want to miss this!  So that we can prepare and plan for this special event we are asking that you please RSVP to Debbie Hamza at [email protected] or (602)896-2 900 option 6 no later than August 28th if you plan to attend.  We look forward to seeing you there!
ParentVUE

We are excited to announce that the new parent portal, ParentVUE, is now configured and activation codes are being sent home in today's Tuesday Folder.  ParentVUE is replacing FamilyLink and Edline.  With a single login, families will be able to access grades and classroom resources.  Additionally, ParentVUE offers our families some exciting features that weren't available in our previous systems including an application for mobile devices and tablets. We look forward to enhancing our school-home communication through the use of ParentVUE.  Parents, if you did not receive your code today please contact the front office.

Frys Community Rewards Program 

We were very fortunate to have received over $1,500 last year from our parent's participation in the Fry's Community Rewards Program.  It is extremely important that you re-enroll EVERY YEAR in order to participate.  Please be sure to following these procedures to enroll:

 

1.  Go to www.fryscommunityrewards.com 

2.  Click on "Sign-In".

3.  Enter your e-mail and password, click on "sign in".

4. Click on your name (top right hand corner), under "Account    Summary" scroll down to "Community Rewards".

5.  Click on "Edit" under Community Rewards.

6.  Under "Find Your Organization:  Enter the NPO number 80627

  or Desert Heights Charter School then select "search"

7.  Under "Select Your Organization", click on the circle next to Desert Heights Charter School.

8.  Click on "Enroll"

 

If you have re-enrolled correctly, you should see a green box with "Your Enrollment in the Community Rewards Program has been updated. Thank you for participating and supporting Desert Heights Charter School!

Move On When Reading Program 

Parents, please take a moment to read this very important information regarding the Move On When Reading Program.

2015-2016 School Lunches 

Parents, it is extremely important that you pre-order your student's lunches no later than 10pm Wednesday evening in order for lunches to be provided for your child the following week.  Nutrition One does NOT provide us with extra lunches.  If you do NOT meet the deadline it is imperative that you send a lunch or bring a lunch for your child each day. We thank you in advance for your prompt attention.

Below are some of the ways that we actively fundraise for Desert Heights! Be sure to turn in any "Trash" that you have saved during the summer to your child's teacher!

Box Tops for Education - FREE $$! Box Tops for Education offers easy ways to earn FREE cash for Desert Heights through everyday activities like grocery shopping at no additional cost to you! Please tell friends, neighbors, and family members to think before they toss that box top! When sending in your box tops, please include your child's name and teacher on the bag, envelope or collection sheet.  

 
Send in labels from participating products including Campbell's Soup!  Please refer to the following link for all participating products.

Target!!!  Make sure your REDcard is linked to Desert Heights!  Here's how it works: When parents, teachers and other school supporters use the REDcard, Target donates up to 1% of their purchases to the eligible K-12 school they designate.  Each September, those funds are distributed to schools nationwide, including Desert Heights.
