Polar Express Movie Night November 20th
Please join us this Friday night, November 20th for our Polar Express Movie Night! Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and join us in the Fishbowl for this fun-filled evening.  Kids, wear your PJ's and be sure to check out the snack bar!  We will have pizza, hotdogs, nachos, smores, hot chocolate, and chocolate chip cookies for purchase in the cafeteria.  We will also have a craft table set up for those kids that are interested in getting into the holiday spirit!  Gates open at 5:30pm, and the movie is scheduled to begin at approximately 6:00pm!  Tickets are available for purchase now, but will also be available at the gate.  For those parents that might be interested in volunteering some time during the evening please contact Alexis Santos in the front office.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!   
Canned Food Drive
Our Annual Canned Food Drive is in full swing!  We are asking for non-perishable items.  This is a classroom competition, so please be sure to send items directly to your child's classroom no later than November 30th.  On that date our classrooms will have a "Castle of Cans" competition by grade level.  Winning grade will earn a special reward/treat!  Donations will be directed to a local food bank .
Christmas Angel Program
Every year Desert Heights has a Christmas Angel Program to assist some of our DH families that might be having a difficult time.  This year is no    different and we are happy to help out these wonderful families.  Beginning Friday, November 20th, each of our campuses will have a "Christmas Angel" Tree with tags labeled with gift ideas for some of our DH "Angels".  If you would like to assist us in providing gifts for these kids, please stop by the office, pick a tag, sign it out in the office and return it no later than December 11th so that we can have it prepared for delivery to the DH Angel Family prior to December 18th.  If you would like to make a financial donation so that we can purchase the gifts that would be wonderful as well and will be gladly accepted in any of our front offices.  We are also needing donations of wrapping paper, scotch tape, gift tags, ribbons, bows, and black trash bags for those that might be interested in assisting us that way.  Thank you so much in advance for your generosity!
Veterans Dress Down
For those that attended our Flag ceremony, thank you! We would also like to t hank  all of those that participated and donated to our recent Red/White/Blue Dressdown day for Veterans Day.  Our DHCS community raised $330.  Mario Pacheco from VFW Post 6310 will be in attendance at our Flag Ceremony on December 4th to accept our donation! 
Lost and Found
If your student is missing a sweater, lunch box, backpack, or any other   item please be sure to have them check the lost and found located outside of the office door.  All items remaining after November 20th will be donated to a local charity.   As we enter into the cooler weather we encourage you to label any outerwear with your child's name.
Thanksgiving Break Camp Reminder
Just a reminder for those families that will have students attending the Thanksgiving Break Camp, Camp pick up time for Wednesday, November 25th is 4:00pm.  Thank you!

Run for Nico's Saints November 28th
You are cordially invited to participate in the 1st Annual "Run for Nico's Saints 5k and 1 mile run on Saturday, November 28th.  Desert Heights is proud to support this event, and all proceeds will be directed to the Arizona St. Bernard Rescue in memory of Nico Wilson Rigazio.  For more information and to register click Run for Nicos Saints.  We thank you in advance for your support.  
Tulip Tree Bouquet Cards
Purchase your Tulip Tree flower of the month card for your  holiday season gift giving needs! Great for teachers, grandparents, friends, neighbors, Mom, work holiday parties, grab-bag, etc.  Each card costs  $20 and is good for one bouquet of fresh   flowers for 12 consecutive months! Simply complete the form, attach payment and return to the front office no later than December 18th. 
Box Tops for Education
For those families that collect Box Tops (or those that would like to) here  is a quick link to get you started.  Please be sure to sign up with Box Tops so that you can enter their periodic contests.  Currently, they have a contest to win 10,000 Bonus Box Tops AND 400 reams of paper!  For those interested in entering, click here.  As you collect your Box Tops please place them in a baggie, label with your child's name and teacher's name and send in to the office.  Quarterly we will announce our top 3 winners and they will have the opportunity of having lunch with Mrs. Miller in thanks for their contribution.  1st Quarters winners were:  William Heim, Aaron Zahller, and Quinn Heim.  Congratulations to them, and thank you for the contributions!
Business Donations Needed
Do you own a business?  Would you like to make a donation to Desert Heights Charter School?  We are currently seeking businesses that would like to make a monetary donation to DHCS that will be directed towards the purchase of a server that will support our Technology needs on the DHCS Campus.  For more information or to make a donation please contact the front office.  Thank you in advance for your support!
2015 Tax Credit Donation
As the year winds down, we hope that you will consider making the School Tax Credit donation for 2015.  For further information    go to or contact the front office and we will be happy to assist you. Electronic tax credit donations can be made at  Giving on our Desert Heights website.  Also, for your convenience Tax Credit Donation Brochures are available in our front office. 
Save the Date-January 19, 2016
 For all of our families that will be having a student entering Kindergarten next school year, please be sure to attend our Kindergarten Open House taking place on January 19th from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  This  will be a very informative meeting as you meet our teachers, visit the classrooms and learn about the day in the life of a Kindergartener here at Desert Heights.  Watch for more information to come! 
Save the Date-March 26, 2016
Get ready for a great evening with the Phoenix Suns!  We will have a drawing for 30 on court fan experiences on February 26th, so be sure to send in your completed order form and payment to be eligible.  This is going to be a great family event for our entire DH Community, so we hope to see you there!
