Just a reminder parents that due to Teacher In-Service there will be NO SCHOOL on September 3rd and 4th. For those families that will be needing Child Care, the Preschool will be offering a Day Camp for students on September 3rd. Please see flyer for more details. Please note, there will also be NO SCHOOL on September 7th in observance of Labor Day.
McDonald's McTeacher Night
We hope our DH Families can join us on September 9th at the McDonalds located at 75th Avenue and Bell Road from 5pm-7pm! A portion of all sales during this time period will be donated to DHCS and all proceeds will be directed towards the additional purchase of books for our grade levels for our reading program. We hope to see you there!
Move On When Reading
To ensure that all Arizona students have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in reading, a bill was passed in 2010 called Move on When Reading. Please take a moment to read the following information that applies to each of our grade levels.
For those families that would like to order DHCS polo shirts, please complete the following
order form and return along with payment made payable to The Perfect Touch. We do have sample sizes in the front office for your convenience.
ParentVUE
ParentVUE activation codes have been distributed! With a single login, families can access grades and classroom resources. Please note that although a mobile app is available, not all ParentVUE features can be accessed using it. For a complete experience, we recommend parents familiarize themselves with both versions so they can be informed on the features available in each. Additionally, we request that parents use the browser version to review the "Student Info" section to confirm important contact data is current. From this page, parents can edit and submit updates as needed using the "Edit Information" button. Parents, if you did not receive your activation code please contact the front office.
Carpool
We have a family looking for anyone willing to carpool in the area of 15th Avenue and Peoria. Please contact Debbie Hamza if interested so we can get you in contact with the family. Thank you!
Frys Community Rewards Program Reminder
We were very fortunate to have received over $1,500 last year from our parent's participation in the Fry's Community Rewards Program. It is extremely important that you re-enroll EVERY YEAR in order to participate. Please be sure to following these procedures to enroll:
3. Enter your e-mail and password, click on "sign in".
4. Click on your name (top right hand corner), under "Account Summary" scroll down to "Community Rewards".
5. Click on "Edit" under Community Rewards.
6. Under "Find Your Organization: Enter the NPO number 80627
or Desert Heights Charter School then select "search"
7. Under "Select Your Organization", click on the circle next to Desert Heights Charter School.
8. Click on "Enroll"
If you have re-enrolled correctly, you should see a green box with "Your Enrollment in the Community Rewards Program has been updated. Thank you for participating and supporting Desert Heights Charter School!

Here's how it works: When parents, teachers and other school supporters use the REDcard, Target donates up to 1% of their purchases to the eligible K-12 school they designate. Each September, those funds are distributed to schools nationwide, including Desert Heights. To learn more about the program click here.
