Craft Beverage Modernization Act Gains House Majority Support

H.R. 747, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, re-introduced earlier this year by Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI), has crossed the majority threshold in the U.S. House of Representatives, with more than 226 co-sponsors signed onto the bill, representing a clear, bipartisan majority in the U.S. House.

Bluebird Distilling Opens Center City Philly Tasting Room This Week

Phoenixville, Pa.’s Bluebird Distilling will open its tasting room and retail store with comp whiskey and craft-spirits tastings from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, June 23 at the Shops at Liberty Place in Philadelphia. Jared Adkins’ product line includes Four Grain Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, Juniperus Gin, and Sugarcane Rum.

Tennessee Gets Its Own Official Whiskey Trail

Distillers launched a 25-stop whiskey tour across Tennessee on Monday with the hopes of bringing tourists to all corners of the state. (News Channel 5-Nashville) 

Seed-to-Spirit Movement Grows

In 2011, inspired by the growth of the craft-distilling movement, fifth-generation farmer Jamie Walter believed there were opportunities in a different market. Walter started to experiment and discovered that the corn, wheat and rye growing on his 2,000-acre farm in DeKalb, Illinois, produced excellent artisan spirits. The first bottles of Whiskey Acres spirits were released in 2015. (Wine Enthusiast)

Element Brewery to Open Distillery

Element Brewery is starting a nano-distillery and will be celebrating its new products in a grand opening on Friday. It will be the first commercial distillery in its county since Prohibition, according to Element’s owners. (Greenfield Recorder)

Casey Jones Distillery Bottles Total Solar Eclipse

Casey Jones Distillery (Hopkinsville, Ky.) is preparing for the Aug. 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse by bottling Casey’s Cut Total Eclipse Moonshine, what it calls the “Official Drink of the 2017 Solar Eclipse.”  The company says that the solar eclipse’s point of greatest totality at two minutes and forty seconds is set to happen just 2 miles from Casey Jones Distillery. San Francisco-Based Distillery Launches Pisco-Inspired Spirit
San Francisco-based North Channel Distillery announces the debut of Frísco, the company’s inaugural craft spirit distilled from wine made from California grapes. Inspired by pisco, the grape-based spirit native to Chile and Peru, Frísco introduces a modern, locally-produced taste for a globally-minded audience. (BevNet)

Napa Valley Distillery Crowdfunds Expansion

Napa Valley Distillery (NVD), a family owned and operated distillery based in Napa (of course), is currently raising growth capital on Indiegogo’s investment crowdfunding vertical. The company is capitalizing on recent trends in the distillery business demonstrating growing demand. (Crowdfund Insider)
