Craft Beverage Modernization Act Now Has 50 Senate Co-Sponsors
S. 236, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, re-introduced earlier this year by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MN), has reached a landmark 50 co-sponsors in the Senate, with 28 Democrats, 21 Republicans and one Independent, representing a clear, bipartisan groundswell of support for tax parity. Rebecca Creek Partners with San Antonio Spurs
Texas-based Rebecca Creek Distillery has partnered with basketball team San Antonio Spurs for the 2017-18 NBA season. The local partnership will feature TV signage and a ‘Hometown Highlights’ digital campaign that will be viewable across Spurs social media platforms and website. The collaboration marks the distillery’s second partnership with a major league sports team this year. In April 2017, Rebecca Creek Saloon opened at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers baseball team. (The Spirits Business)
Central Pennsylvania Craft Spirits Trail Debuts
The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau has uncapped a list of 12 distilleries that are taking part in the Keystone Craft Spirits Trail, which was first announced in May. The  new trail , designed to help promote craft alcohol tourism in the midstate, includes distilleries from Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York, as well as Gettysburg, Baltimore and the Philadelphia suburbs. The Family Coppola Launches Great Women Spirits
The Family Coppola has announced the launch of Great Women Spirits, which will be available this month in select restaurants and retailers. Great Women Spirits, which the Coppolas describe as “small-batch, house-crafted, classically styled spirits,” will begin production with its brand of vodka, gin and brandy, and has plans to expand the collection in the near future. Distillery Opens in Indiana with 100 Percent Sweet Corn Bourbon
A new distillery is hoping Hoosier love for sweet corn will extend to a taste for it in their cocktails, too. Old 55 Distillery in Newtown, Ind. has opened to the public, offering tastings and tours. (WISH-TV)
San Diego Distillers Guild Hosts Inaugural 'Spirits by the Bay' Fest
The beer festival has become a fixture in the San Diego events landscape. Not a month goes by without a festival featuring local beers, and most months there are several. However, October 14, a boozy new festival will highlight another growing beverage segment, as the  San Diego Distillers Guild  will launch a first-of-its-kind event promoting the region's spirits manufacturers: the San Diego Spirits by the Bay Festival. Kentucky Distillers' Association Welcomes Neeley Family Distillery
The Kentucky Distillers’ Association announced Thursday that the Neeley Family Distillery in Sparta has joined its legendary ranks, as the Northern Kentucky area continues to flourish for craft distilling. The distillery is owned and operated by Royce Neeley, 25, and opened in July. Neeley’s family built the distillery and visitor center on a lot adjacent to the famed Kentucky Speedway to capitalize on race fans throughout the year. (Northern Kentucky Tribune).
Michigan's Atlas Distilling Launches Crowdfunding Campaign
Atlas Distilling Company, a small batch distillery and restaurant launching soon on the site of the historic Atlas Mill in Clinton, Michigan, is live on global crowdfunding platform Indiegogo and raising funds to bring the project to life. Located in the heart of Clinton sits a 188-year-old mill which was once a staple and lifeblood of the charming village and the second oldest business in Michigan. The mill was destroyed by arson in the late 2000s and now a few hometown entrepreneurs are hoping to breathe new life into the history-rich site by turning into a new world-class craft distillery.
