BATS: Superheroes of the Night celebrates bats, the new Batman v. Superman movie, and superheroes in general in March. The Malayan Flying Foxes have arrived as part of the new features related to the exhibition. The largest species of bat in the world, weighing around two pounds, and boasting five to six foot wingspans, these giant fruit-eaters are not to be missed. Starting March 11, we offer science and superhero fans the chance to own a piece of Batman movie history when bat houses constructed from the set of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice go up for auction on Ebay. Superhero Sunday on March 20 offers the opportunity to dress as your favorite superhero and see comics come alive as the Institute of Science celebrates all things superhero inside and outside the museum from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We'll start by choosing sides and taking a selfie with Batman or Darth Vader to see who registers more superhero selfie posts on Facebook and then help save the bats through special activities. Learn more about bat events by clicking here.
The Institute presents a favorite rite of spring at its 42nd Annual Maple Festival on Sunday, March 13 from noon to 4:00 pm. All activities at this year's Festival are open to the public. General admission is $18 for adults and $15 for children. Members receive a $3 discount per ticket.  To register, call 248 645.3245, stop at the Visitor's Service Desk at the Institute or go online.
