Organized by the Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research and Cranbrook Art Museum, this exhibition debuts the Gerald W. McNeely Collection, one of the largest private collections of Pewabic Pottery recently donated to Cranbrook Art Museum and never before seen in its entirety. The Collection includes over 117 works including a Revelation Pottery Vase, which pre-dates the founding of Pewabic, and includes works from throughout the career of Mary Chase Perry Stratton, founder of Pewabic Pottery. The exhibition will also highlight Cranbrook's own collection of Pewabic Pottery from the Art Museum and campus. Click here to explore the exhibitions at Cranbrook Art Museum.
A stronomers, educators, and naturalists explore the mysteries of the dark in NIGHT LIFE December 26 through December 30 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm each day. From meteorites to giant planets, and star charts to a linear model of the solar system that will fit in your pocket, this event will explore the world of darkness where nothing seems to happen but much occurs. Bring your telescope and the Warren Astronomical Society will help you develop your skills as an amateur astronomer. Or, try your hand at operating a robotic rover over the surface of Mars. We'll even answer the questions " How Big? How Far?" by exploring the distance between the Earth and Moon to discover which is larger. NIGHT LIFE is free with admission. Weekday planetarium showings and Bats: Superheroes of the Night are offered at an additional charge. Explore Science this holiday season
Cranbrook Schools' winter 2016 Open House will take place on January 10.
