Daily Planetarium Programming During Thanksgiving Week

The Acheson Planetarium will offer weekday planetarium programs during the Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, November 23 and Friday, November 25. Programs on the hour from 11:30am to 3:30pm include the start of special holiday offerings Let it Snow and Mystery of the Christmas Star which run through December 30. Regular weekend programming continues.

Megalodon: Largest Shark that Ever Lived

Dive deep below the ocean's surface, and journey back 20 million years to witness the terrifying spectacle in Megalodon - Largest Shark that Ever Lived. This massive beast (6,000 cans of tuna for dinner anyone?) was one of the most powerful predators of all time. Visitors are immersed in the myths, mysteries, and majesty of this now extinct behemoth as they examine the evolution, biology, truths, and even celebrity status of giant prehistoric sharks, and look at the state of shark populations more than two million years after megalodon vanished. Megalodon - Largest Shark that Ever Lived runs through January 3, 2017.

Young Scientists Inspires a Love of Science

The Institute's popular Young Scientists program continues through March. Children PreK - 2nd Grade are invited to ask questions, make observations, and deepen their appreciation for the world around us. Classes involve hands-on activities to encourage curiosity about a variety of topics including paleontology, engineering, biology, and more. Each week features a new subject. The series runs select Thursdays through March 30, 2017. Preregistration is required.
