Journey Back to The Dark Side of the Moon in the Planetarium
Join us in the Acheson Planetarium for a legendary entertainment show like no other - The Dark Side of the Moon. The eighth album by the English rock band Pink Floyd explores themes such as conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by founding member Syd Barrett's deteriorating mental state. Show times are every Friday and Saturday night at 9pm starting January 6.
Get Ready for "Wonderful Things" from King Tut's Tomb
Ancient Egypt comes to the Institute of Science when Tutankhamun: "Wonderful Things" From the Pharaoh's Tomb opens on February 3, 2017. More than 100 meticulously created replicas of the pharaoh's sacred and personal possessions including his magnificent state chariot, golden shrines, famous funerary mask, and mummy case, transport the visitor back to the splendor of the 18th dynasty. Cranbrook's exhibition of "Wonderful things" is enriched by ancient Egyptian artifacts from the Institute's own collections for an experience found nowhere else.

Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan Offer Kaleidoscope of Science Fun
Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to spend a special evening exploring science at the Institute on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 4 until 8pm. Open to all Girl Scouts, siblings, and their families, Kaleidoscope of Science offers special tabletop activities and workshops, and interactive physics shows.  Each Scout receives a patch, gift, and access to special activities. Kids from Kindergarten through 9th Grade use the museum and Cranbrook's 319-acre campus as their summer laboratory of science fun. Weeklong camps include Before- and After-Care options. Put your camper on the path to discovery today.
The Young Scientists of Today are the Engineers, Doctors, and Entomologists of Tomorrow
Channel the curiosity of your child between the ages of 2 and 7 with the Young Scientists Program select Thursdays through March 9. This weekly investigation through the wonders of the natural world offers hands-on activities across different disciplines. We'll learn all about insects, build tall towers, and find out what makes objects move. The fee covers one adult/child pair, and siblings are welcome to attend at an additional charge. Because of the popularity of this program, pre-registration is required.
