Hi! Quick update since the last newsletter: had a couple fun Cville Creativity Network gatherings last year, and look to do more this year; and welcomed a few new clients, including PBS and the USGS in the DC area, which has me spending time working both in DC and Charlottesville. I'm still on the adjunct faculty at the Federal Executive Institute, leading ongoing Improv and creativity-based leadership programs, which has offered an amazing opportunity for consistent experimentation and refinement (thus my new workshop below). I was also recently interviewed on the TalentGrow Show about applied creativity in business. Click here for the interview.

Upcoming: I have an exciting new public workshop this spring in DC on March 26 (write-up below), and another in Charlottesville on April 2 (write-up coming next time). I'm also looking forward to leading an Improv for Brand Storytelling  breakout session at the FUSE Conference in Miami.

Scroll down for articles, musings, links, and more! And have a an awesome week! ~ Michelle :-)
New Workshop: The Creative, Original Facilitator
Be at Ease Creating, Improvising, Adapting in the Moment,
and Bouncing Back  from "Mistakes" or the Unexpected.
Design Compelling, Original Content for Full-On Participant Engagement.
Saturday, March 26th ~ 9:30-4:00 ~ Washington, DC

This workshop is for professional facilitators, trainers, OD practitioners, coaches, consultants, educators, etc. to bring more of your own creativity and originality into your facilitation and activity design in purposeful ways - especially if you want to facilitate the creativity of your participants.

The focus is on cultivating, owning and using your creativity - being more comfortable and ease creating, modifying and improvising in the moment while facilitating; and creating unique, original content (or modifying existing content) to differentiate yourself and give your participants a unique, dynamic, and relevant learning experience.

Creative Destruction within the
Creative Process
A friend had asked in a Facebook group, "How do you motivate yourself and stay enthusiastic when surrounded by a collapsing civilization?" I re-posted my response on my blog since it was, not surprisingly, all about applied creativity.

Specifically, it's about the creative destruction within a creative emergence process - being with both the destruction of the old and the emergence of the new. Click here for the post.

CreativiTweet Musings
Every issue I also include some of my own musings in 140 characters or less. These are some of my recently tweeted explorations about creativity and emergence....tweets for thought:

1.  Creativity can transform data into knowledge, knowledge into
wisdom, and wisdom into inspired action.
2.  Objectives, yes. Agendas, no. Unexpected, yes. Routine, no.
Uncomfortable, perhaps. Unsafe, no. Creating, yes. Following, no.
3.  Some mysteries lend to being solved...others to being engaged,
     not so much answered.
#creativeemergence
4.  Instead of only focusing on what someone believes, get to know WHY they believe it.
When we uncover the why there's hope for creative change.
5.  The difference between the unknown which leads to confusion and the unknown which
leads to emergence is intention & presence with creativity.
6.  Don't rush to fill the creative pause. It's a fertile rich part of the creative process...
like the soil preparing the new crop.
#creativeemergence
7.  The more you engage & value your creativity, the less you compare yourself to
others...the less competitive you are...and the more empowered.
8.  Somewhere between blind compliance and reactive rebellion exists true creative choice.
9.  Being present is being in an ongoing process of discovery. Presence doesn't limit us to
what we already know - it allows newness to emerge.
10. Would you rather be right or would you rather be true? The former maintains the
status quo. The latter opens up the creative field...with integrity.
11. In the unknown there's a difference between random blind faith and the trust in
life-giving patterns of emergence that just aren't yet actualized.
