"Live in joy, in love, even among those who hate."
                    ~  Jack Kornfield

Dear Friends:

Happy Holidays!

Tis the season ... for Loving Kindness. That's the theme of this month's newsletter. As Jack Kornfield recently said in a seminar I attended, "In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you."

Understanding what serves you and what does not serve you takes and understanding of who you are and what you want in this lifetime. The end of one year and the beginning of a new one, might be a good time to contemplate this and all that brings you joy.

MORE GIFT SUGGESTIONS
(For your four- and two-legged loved ones)

by Linda Gray Sexton

This fast-paced and inspiring memoir is a glance at another side of the poet Anne Sexton's family life--a portrait of their deep connection and love for Dalmations. The dogs are portrayed as "therapy dogs" because more than once they pulled the author's mother out of a deep depression, providing joy and solace, while as Linda says, the family felt they were often "dancing with death." This compelling book offers a glimpse into the power of pet therapy, written by a master storyteller. The reader also gets a glimpse into the personality of the Dalmation, portrayed as an "always-hungry food thief." Finally, Linda shares the pain of losing a beloved dog and what that can do to a household. This book is a gem for anyone who has ever had a love affair with a four-legged animal. This page-turner is highly recommended for yourself and/or as a gift.

by Stuart Sovatsky, Ph.D.

Even for someone like myself, who considers herself sexually evolved, this book was an eye opener! I learned so much. By reading this book, you will be awakened both spiritually and sexually. Sovatsky has been a yoga mentor for the past 30 years, and a clinical psychologist who has helped thousands of couples on the verge of breakup. He shares his belief that "tantra are erotica maturity" and a continuation of the transformation which occurs during adolescence. The book highlights the theory and practice of paying attention to one's partner and each fleeting moment together as a way to mutually deepen intimacy. Sovatsky also advocates partner worship in every aspect of one another's lives. The idea, he says, is "not to build boundaries, but to feel and respect and share it with others." Highly recommended for strengthening any intimate relationship--to be read alone or with your partner.

   TRAVELS

On November 14th and 15th, I had the honor of attending Jack Kornfield's workshop, "The Psychology of Loving Kindness," in Tucson, Arizona. What a wonderful weekend! The essences of loving kindness, compassion and mindfulness are very powerful. Through experimental learning, we came to understand the importance of meeting the world at a place of loving awareness. Kornfield helped us realize the importance of cultivating an environment of balance and harmony as a way to  joyful embodiment and inner liberation.
