President's Day, February 20th

HPL will be closed Monday, February 20th, in honor of President's Day. We will reopen Tuesday at 9:30 am.

A trio of female soul singers cross over to the pop charts in the early 1960s, facing their own personal struggles along the way. Star-filled cast includes: Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, and Jamie Foxx. Rated PG-13. Runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Felt Heart Garland
Thursday, February 16th, 6-7:30pm

Adults, join us as artist, Ai-Ping Ma, leads us in the creation of a felt heart garland. Perfect for Valentine's Day decorating, and any other time of the year! Free. All supplies included.

Vamos a leer juntos! El hora del cuentos con Lisa Marie. Join Lisa Marie Martinez for a delightful hour of Spanish stories, music and song.  Every Monday at 9:45, January 23 - March 27. Open to children under 5 with a caregiver.

this over-the-top math club designed to get kids fired up about math! Every week kids get to build stuff, get physical, experiment, and have fun with math. All this while using STEAM concepts!

Rigamagig is Coming to HPL
4 Mondays starting February 13th

In collaboration with Compass Arts and the Howland Public Library, children ages 5-9 are invited to participate in creative building with Rigamajig, a large building kit designed for hands-on free play and learning. Rigamajig consists of wooden planks, wheels, pulleys, nuts & bolts, and rope. What can you invent?
"Rigamajig allows young makers to think three dimensionally and work collaboratively through play. Conceived and designed as a custom play feature for the High Line Park in New York City, the Rigamjig was developed by Cas Holman and Friends of the High Line in collaboration with early learning educators, woodworkers, and children."

Friday, February 17th, 3-5pm

Stop by our maker station on Friday to design and fabricate your own button. No experience needed. Stop by any time between 3-5pm. We'll have plenty of art supplies and examples for inspiration. For ages 10 and up. No registration required.
UpCycle Art Studio
Magazine Beads
Saturday, February 18th, 12-1:30pm

Each month in the Upcycle Art Studio, we'll experiment with transforming discarded materials into works of art. This month we'll be making beads out of recycled magazines. All supplies are provided just bring yourself and your imagination. Upcycle Art Studio is open to youth ages 10 and up.

Anime Club
Friday, February 24th, 3-5pm

Anime watchers & Manga readers alike, come join us the 4th Friday of each month from 3-5pm for Anime & Manga Club.

Each month teens choose the anime to be shown from our current anime dvds or streaming from Teens may bring their own Anime DVDs and favorite Manga books to share.  
Japanese snacks served.

Anime Club is open to middle & high school students.
