Hikes and Nature Walks

Anna Ruby Falls, Join local naturalist Ben Cash, as he leads a walk up to Anna Ruby Falls. Along the way, Ben will identify the native Appalachian wildflowers growing along the trail. There is a $2.00 per person admission fee. Please call 706-878-1448 to reserve a slot.

TIE ONE ON TYATHON

Saturday March 24th was a beautiful spring spring day, with trees blooming, birds chirping, and North Georgia streams flowing clear and cold, with hungry trout searching the riffles for something to eat. Numerous trout fishermen were hiking and wading the rivers and streams searching for these fish, ready to softly drop an Elk Hair Caddis or Pheasant Tail Nymph upstream and have it drift down to one of these waiting fish.

 April 20-21, 2012 Cornelia is putting a new twist on an old tradition. The Cornelia Apple Blossom Festival will focus on the fine art of BBQ cooking! The competition will be a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event, the 1st contest on the Georgia BBQ Championship circuit and is proclaimed a State Championship contest by Governor, Nathan Deal. BBQ cookers from across the southeast will compete for Grand Champion as judged by professional KCBS judges. |

Bob is a regular customer here that visits at least once a month during the season for a week each time. We have become very good friends with Bob and his wife Pamela. As Pamela puts it "for Bob its all about the adventure!!!
The question is did he make it back? We will give the results next month.

The South's oldest balloon event and the United States' only long distance hot air balloon race will begin (weather permitting) with a mass ascension of 30 bright and colorful hot air balloons, in North Georgia's Alpine Village - Helen.

South East Fly Fishing Federation Conclave is April 27th-29th 2012, Unicoi State Park
So you want to learn casting or Tie flies with the best!
This is not a show, but a gathering of the best of the best!!!
I (Robert) have volunteered for two years now, and still amazed of the vast knowledge each time in all venues.
The Festival will feature the flyfishing greats,seminars about all facets of the wonderful sport of flyfishing.
They will also have forty of the best regional fly-tiers demonstrating their art, various fly-casting clinics given by FFF and many commercial exhibitors showing the latest in flyfishing goodies.
A "Catch & Release Fun Fishing Derby" is planned for Friday, April 27th, a "Blind Wooly-Bugger" fly-tying contest on Saturday April 28th,
FREE Casting competition (sponsored by Temple Fork Outfitters) with some great prizes will be open to ALL on Sunday, April 29th.
Sorry Creekwoods cabins are all sold-out for the FFF, but we still have RV sites available. |

Creekwood offers Skeet Shooting
Mr. Mountain is the location, high above the cabins and campground. Only $25.00 per half hour. We provide 25 shells, 25 clay pigeons & gun. You are welcome to bring your own shotgun; the price is the same per 1/2 hour (max 4 persons).

Once a week, till about the end of May, we leave Creekwood Resort to go somewhere? Viewing the side picture it's not just about catching the trout, it is also about the wonderful scenery.
And as we all know, trout do not live in ugly areas!!

Work Shop/Tornado Safe Room Update!!
Creekwood is buiding both a workshop and more importantly a safe room for our customers. This two story (first floor seen) is cut into the mountain side for wind protection.
The retaining walls are 14' high, 12" thick, with five 3' side supports, four are on the outside, one inside.
9 cement trucks, each having 8 yards of cement.
Four 30' steel I beams will cross from one side to the other, supporting the second floor. website. |

We are passionate about helping you to build a foundation for a lifetime of fitness through cycling. Our mission is to grow the sport - Bring cycling to more people and then keep them in the sport. If you have ever wanted to get into fly-fishing the time is now! The water temps are perfect and Unicoi has stock some honkers of trout in their private waters.
The Gilligan Special is Unicoi Outfitters' basic introduction to fly fishing for people who have a curiosity about the sport, but have never experienced it. The tour starts with an hour of basic casting and fishing instruction, then finishes with two hours of fishing on one of our trophy trout streams. We provide rods, reels, waders, flies, and the knowledge needed for a first-class introduction to fly fishing. The Gilligan is designed for two people, so is perfect for those on vacation in either Helen or Blue Ridge who have wondered about fly-fishing but not had the opportunity to try it - this is the perfect opportunity! Final Thoughts
We thank you for reading our newsletter. When Melissa and I invested in Creekwood 8 years ago, one of our commitments was to keep Creekwood a "Vacation Only" campground. In other words we have no permanents and we are the only private campground in White county set up that way. So we must and have saved up reserves to make it through the off seasons.
