National Foster Care Month

Did you know that the girls and young women in the agency's residential programs (TGH &GR) are ages 10-21 and all of them are low-income and/or on TANF assistance?

The majority of the girls in these programs (76.4%) are wards of the State who are referred from the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).  The programs served 253 foster children in fiscal year 2014.

Thank You

Florence Crittenton would like to thank our continuous monthly

WINGS Mentor Program

Be a leader for the girls at Florence Crittenton and become a mentor for our WINGS, Women Involved in Nurturing Girls' Self-Esteem, program. WINGS  is a highly-structured mentoring program that pairs a girl in one of the agency's programs with a female role model.  These healthy adult relationships give at-risk teen girls a new outlook on the value of education, career goals and their own sense of self-worth.

Volunteer Highlight, Darlene Shephard

Florence Crittenton would like to recognize Darlene Shephard as she has been an active member of the Florence Crittenton's Auxiliary for more than 40 years

"I have witnessed first-hand her unwavering support and love for the girls along with all the members of the Florence Crittenton Auxiliary." - Dr.  Kellie Warren, CEO

The Auxiliary is a group of dedicated women who volunteer at Florence Crittenton to bring hope and healing to the girls living in our residential programs. The Auxiliary ensures a variety of activities for our girls such as BBQ and pool parties, birthday bashes, holiday celebrations, and other recreational outings throughout the year.

Each year, the Auxiliary directly impacts the lives of 100's of girls in our residential care.  Darlene has been a tremendous volunteer, averaging 30-40 hours a month for more than 40 years. The Auxiliary continues to bring extraordinary gifts from their hearts to the girls in our care.

Diplomats from the Republic of Tajikistan

This past month, five diplomats from the Republic of Tajikistan visited the agency to learn more about how we help girls and young women in crisis. They were inspired by the model of gender specific and culturally competent services offered, as the children in their countrywho are not living in their homes live in orphanages.

"Learning about Florence Crittenton was an inspiration for us to implement new good ideas in our home country," sai Mr. Tugral Khayrulloev, Expert, Department of European & American Countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Tajikistan.

The diplomats are part of the Open World Leadership Program, which started in 1999 with the mission of enhancing the  understanding and capabilities for cooperation between the United States and other countries by developing a network of leaders in the region who have gained significant, firsthand exposure to America's democratic, accountable government and its free-market system.
