CSA Week 4

   How's it going so far?

We hope you've enjoyed the first three weeks of the CSA season as much as we have. We're trying to deliver the best possible product, and we hope you'll help us do that by letting us know what we can do better. If you have suggestions, please send an email to [email protected] and let us know what changes you'd like to see. Your feedback is our best chance to improve our product, so thanks in advance for helping us out.

The allium family is well represented in this week's box: onions and garlic. They pair well with the kale -- braise them all in a little olive oil, and serve them over white beans or maybe roasted potatoes. Though we will be picking peaches for the next several weeks, you'll notice that the peaches differ from one week to the next, as different varieties ripen. And the blackberries should be ready to add to those peaches soon -- they make a great cobbler together.

Week 4 Shares Include: 1 head of garlic, 1 bag of potatoes, 1 bag of kale, 1 bag of lettuce 1 bundle of spring onions, 6 peaches.

Pick-your-own bonus: 6 peaches.

Group Site Members:
Please remember that you must pick up your box on delivery day. All boxes contain perishable items that spoil easily, so any boxes that are not claimed within the designated pick-up window will be donated. Your host is not permitted to hold your box overnight.

Cooking with Lee

Long-time CSA member Lee Draznin has embarked on a blogging project this year: it's called "What Do I Do With This Box?", and the name speaks for itself. We invite all of you to join us in Lee's kitchen for the next few months, while we learn how he uses the bounty that comes to his door every week.

Here's Lee's post from Week 3:

"I know that my first three posts have come fairly quickly.  I was a little late getting the first published, and quickly followed with post two.  This week allows me to get more on my intended schedule.  I hope to publish on Wednesdays or Thursdays.  CSA deliveries are Tuesday through Thursday, so hopefully a more current publishing schedule will make it easier to actually use the recipes eat more of what comes in each box."
