Crop Talk: June 27 ~ Week 4
Note: The Farm closes at 4pm on Monday, July 4th
We're in a delicious picking rotation this week. Our blueberries continue to ripen at a leisurely pace while our black raspberries are also asserting themselves, so we're swapping back and forth between those two fields to give each one a chance to bounce back from a picking day. Meanwhile, on the other side of the creek, the first peaches are ready as well. Andrew says this is the first year he can remember when we've started picking peaches before we've finished cutting asparagus. We have several varieties of peaches, each of which ripens at a different time, so we hope to have them available for much of the summer.

The cool, wet spring was great for growing greens, so our kale is beautiful, and there's a lot of it -- we had kale-and-raspberry smoothies in the farm office this morning. You can stock up on this popular superfood in the market, at your CSA discount price. Try Marla's recipe for sauteed kale with lentils and dill.
