Soil moisture was below normal near Spirit Lake and Estherville.  Fall rainfall near these locations was about 6 to 7 inches since August 1, about 1-2 inches below normal.

Soil moisture was not sampled at the sites near Spencer, Storm Lake, Pocahontas and Schaller. Rainfall was 11 to 15 inches from August 1 until mid -November at these locations.  Those levels of late season rainfall will likely provide adequate amounts of reserve soil moisture for the 2015 crop season.
