Cruise Ship "Century"

Monday - April 29, 2013

The City of Monterey and Monterey Harbor will be hosting the passengers of the cruise ship "Century". To facilitate the arrival the cruise ship staff will be using small tenders to shuttle to and from the ship while at the deep water anchorage. The ramp adjacent to Rappas Restaurant will be unavailable to the public during this time period. When in restricted access, this area is no different than a security zone at a commercial airport. Outer harbor mooring vessel owners will be required to show valid photo identification to gain access to their dinghy's on the theater and Rappas dock areas. No others will be permitted in this area. Passengers will be using the California Dock for loading and unloading passengers throughout the day and into the early evening. Thank you for your cooperation and please join us in welcoming the "Century" to Monterey Bay.

  Centrury Cruise Ship

Century was launched in 1995. Designed to incorporate a variety of Celebrity's Millennium-class attributes, the revitalization of Century is the line's most extensive refurbishment to-date, and the largest cruise ship modification completed by Fincantieri's Palermo, Italy, shipyard.

A total of 314 new verandas have been added to the ship, along with 14 new suites, ten new staterooms ranging from inside to veranda categories, a new specialty restaurant, an expanded spa, and a series of features and amenities that typify the line's Millennium-class fleet.

The new Murano specialty restaurant in the center of the ship has chandeliers handcrafted of Murano glass, named for the island of Murano near VeniceItaly, where glass-blowing has been a fine art and tradition since the 13th century. Century has the first "ice bar" concept at sea within its Martini Bar featuring a liquid wall that freezes to form a sparkling crystalline appearance, and a bar counter that freezes into ice-cold stone, while a solid block of ice will display bottles of liquor behind the bar.
