"Soaring Eagle" 
2018 Epsilon Tau Pi Foundation Scholarship 

Trevor Healy of Canadice was recently awarded the 2018 Epsilon Tau Pi Foundation's "Soaring Eagle" Scholarship.
 
Epsilon Tau Pi is an honorary Eagle Scout Fraternity established to form a brotherhood of Eagle Scouts upholding the ideals of Scouting and the rank of Eagle Scout. Scholarship applicants must be an incoming freshman at one of ten selected universities in the US, and are evaluated on academics, extra-curricular activities, leadership, and service.
 
Trevor achieved his Eagle Scout rank in 2017 as a member of Troop 56, West Bloomfield, and is a Class of 2018 graduate of Honeoye Central School. He is currently in his first year at Ohio State University, majoring in music education.

Celebrating the Eagle Scout Class of 2018
Eagle Scout Mentor Dinner
January 8, 2019; 5:30 - 9:00pm

Join us in celebrating the Eagle Scout Class of 2018 on January 8, 2019 at the 68th Annual Eagle Scout Mentor Dinner at the Burgundy Basin, 1361 Marsh Rd, Pittsford.  Eagle Scouts will be paired with a business mentor who can provide insights and encouragement as they pursue higher education and career goals.

The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award as well as the 2018 Eagle Scout Projects of the Month and year will be presented.

Merit Badge Days

At the Scout Service Center in Rochester, we are offering a variety of different merit badges. All led by Counselors who are knowledgeable in their fields of study.  Most Saturday will offer at least 2 badges not available at summer camp, so you will be introduced to new skills and hobbies, or even a new career! On January 5th we are hosting American Heritage and Exploration Merit Badge!
 
 
 

OKPIK
Jan 25-27, 2019

OKPIK, the Inuit word for snowy owl, is a "Classroom Style" training experience designed to make you, the adult leader, aware of the physiological and psychological aspects of winter camping, as well as the great variety of winter camping equipment that's available. This training will give you the skills and confidence to lead a winter campout and ensure a safe and fun experience for all.






Massawepie Treks
2019

New to 2019 for the Adirondack trek Center at Camp Massawepie are Solo Treks! These 6-day Treks will combine Scouts from all over Seneca Waterways Council who are looking for the next level of adventure.  Each week will have a different Trek picked to highlight the many areas and specialties of the Adirondacks.   
 





Salesmanship Merit Badge
Space is limited; register now!

Scouts can earn the Salesmanship Merit Badge by attending Amerks' games with pregame meeting.  Only $45 per Scout for the 3-sessions including a ticket to each game.  Meeting/game dates are Dec. 14, Jan 11, and Feb.8.  

As part of the program, Scouts will sell tickets to the February 8th Scout Night game.  Prizes awarded to top selling Scouts.  Must be 11 years old or older to participate.

Youth Protection Training is required for all adult leaders
for Packs, Troops, Crews, Ships, and Explorer Posts. You may take the training online at my.scouting.org or in-person at the Council Service Center on any of the dates listed above. 
 These in-person training sessions at the council office offer participants the opportunities to ask questions.

Holiday Giving Tree!
November 17 - December 20th

Help local Scout members who may be in need of uniforms and uniform items.
The Holiday Giving Tree program works on a donation basis. A Holiday Giving tree (similar to an Angel tree) will be set up at the Scout Shop with Holiday Giving cards of Scouts' first names and their uniform needs as well as other items they may want such as books, crafts, camping items, etc. Purchase the item(s) in the Scout Shop and the store staff will collect the items for each child.

Assistant Camp Ranger:    Seneca Waterways Council is hiring for two part-time assistant rangers to join our ranger team at J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation. We anticipate that interviews will take place in early November.  
 

Program Aides  for the City Scouting Outreach program  - part time position. The Council is seeking high energy, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals to help deliver the in-school Scouting program in the City of Rochester. Candidates should be available mostly between 2:30pm - 5:30pm. Morning and Saturday hours are available as well. Contract position through July 5, 2019.
