We are thrilled to debut Studio, CMTC allowing us to produce smaller plays that we are excited by, and that need to be seen.  Help us make this series a huge hit, so we can bring you more original work in its raw form, give more opportunities to up and coming artists, and help foster new work on our side of Van Ness Ave!
Greetings!

We are proud to invite you to a special play, To Be Young, Gifted and Black: A Portrait of Lorraine Hansberry in her Own Words, presented by the company that ran Gough Street before Custom Made, Multi Ethnic Theater.

Custom Made is helping produce this show and we are happy to offer our fans a great deal! Take $10 off tickets* by using code Raisin at http://www.custommade.org/tickets  (all performances except Saturday nights)

To Be Young... is directed by MET Artistic Director, and our company member, Lewis Campbell (The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Finding the Sun). Also featured are Custom Made company members AJ Davenport (Judas, Sister Mary), Jessica Rudholm (A Bright Room Called Day, Candide) and Danielle Doyle (Equus)

Audience reviews have been incredible.  Check these out!

  • "This is a must see show for anyone interested in theatre, black history and women's history.  I was thoroughly entertained and educated."
  • "It is a script compiling assorted writings of one of America's literary giants that I was unaware of.  The play allowed me to experience a great deal of Hansberry's writing that I would not have otherwise. "
  • "An amazing performance, very talented actors, most interestingly presented. We were spellbound. This theatre and group are a great SF treasure."

To Be Young, Gifted and Black plays until May 27th at Gough Street Playhouse.  Don't miss out on this touching, inspirational and heartbreaking play about the author of A Raisin in the Sun.
