Important News for Importers

In March, the Port of Milwaukee applied to expand its general Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #41 to include areas within a 60-mile radius of the Port, including Sheboygan County. As a result, local companies that successfully apply for participation in the FTZ #41 will no longer be required to pay duties on imported products and raw materials that: (1) are used in manufacturing of products that are consequently exported, and/or (2) are discarded as waste within a manufacturing process. This presents an outstanding opportunity for companies to save on duties and tariffs (
calculate estimated savings worksheet) and reduce paperwork for duty drawback.
