Greetings!
Our work to make your ride better doesn't scale back when the weather gets wet and cold. How can you improve your ride when the weather keeps you indoors? Renew your membership or join for the first time today! Your dues make our work possible, and your name behind us allows us to speak louder for bicycling's right to a seat at the table.
Interested in bike sharing in Philadelphia, or the state of the Schuylkill River Trial? If you spend only an hour this year educating yourself on bicycling issues, spend it at one of our seminars at the Philly Bike Expo next weekend. We're bringing in 15 policy makers and high-level advocates for twelve one-hour seminars. Want to know how federal transportation funding affects Philadelphia? What trails are coming to Bucks and Montgomery Counties? How to win an argument with a bike hater? Attend our seminars and find out!
Our annual meeting is also happening at the Philly Bike Expo (no ticket needed for the meeting). Bicycle Coalition members can meet us and each other, learn about our new strategic plan, and enjoy refreshments and a presentation from Steven Rea, Inquirer movie critic and bicycling blogger of good repute. I hope to see you at the meeting on October 29th! Alex Doty, Executive Director |

Take Action: Save The Bike Corral
We need your help! We have an opportunity to purchase the very cool bike corral (see below) that was loaned to us by Dero Bike Racks for a seven week demonstration on Syndenham Street as part of Park(ing) Day.

How can we save it? By winning a contest that will also help cut down on bike theft!
We are participating in OpenDataPhilly's inaugural Open Data Race to get access to bike theft incident locations (so we can create maps to help crack down on bike theft). First prize is $2,000! Our nomination is in the running for first prize, but we need your help to lock it in! If we win, we'll put the prize money towards keeping the corral in Philadelphia. Our success depends upon the support of our loyal members and readers. Here's how you can help alleviate bike theft and keep the corral, for free, all in less than 3 minutes: -
Go to the OpenDataRace.
-
Register (it's free).
-
Find the Bicycle Coalition's entry (for Bike Theft Locations).
-
Cast your vote for us.
- Vote again next week! You can vote once a week.
The contest runs through October 31st.
