News from DAAD Canada
April sees DAAD Canada with a full schedule of events in both Ontario and Quebec. Full details below.

We'll also be hosting alumni events in both Montreal (April 13) and Toronto (April 23). Alumni who have not received invitation are asked to write us at <daadca@daad.org> for details.

The coming weeks also see the spring deadlines for a number of DAAD support programs including our Short-Term Research Grant, German Studies Research Grant and Research Stays for Faculty.

Deadline: April 15th
DAAD Young Ambassadors Program

Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students from North America that recently studied abroad in Germany and promote study in Germany at their home universities with help from the DAAD.

DAAD is currently accepting nominations for the 2018-19 Young Ambassadors from university study abroad and international offices. (Only one student may be nominated per college or university.) The deadline for submissions is  April 15, 2018 .

Short-Term Research Grants for PhD Students and Postdocs

PhD students and recent postdocs may apply for DAAD's Short-Term Research Grant to receive a living allowance while in Germany for a research stay of between one and six months in length. These grants are available to scholars working in all fields of study and German language skills are a not a prerequisite for application. The next deadline is May 1, 2018 .

Bourses de recherche de court séjour pour les étudiants au doctorat et les postdoctorants
 
Les étudiants au doctorat et les nouveaux postdoctorants peuvent postuler à une bourse de recherche de court séjour en Allemagne du DAAD afin recevoir une allocation de subsistance d'une durée de un à six mois. Ces bourses sont destinées aux chercheurs, toutes disciplines confondues, et les exigences linguistiques en allemand ne sont pas une condition préalable pour postuler. La prochaine date limite est le 1 er mai 2018 .

German Studies Research Grant

DAAD provides German Studies Research Grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany.

The next deadline for this program is May 1, 2018 .

Le DAAD octroie des bourses de recherche en études allemandes à des étudiants de premier cycle et de cycle supérieur qui sont hautement qualifiés et parrainés par leur directeur de département ou de programme. Les bourses en question peuvent servir à des recherches à court terme (un à deux mois) en Allemagne.

Research Stays for Faculty

DAAD's Research Stays program supports scholars working in all disciplines at Canadian institutions of higher education and who wish to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. Grants are issued for stays of between one and three months in length. The next deadline for this program is May 15, 2018 .

Le programme Séjour de recherche pour les universitaires et les scientifiques du DAAD soutient les chercheurs d’établissements canadiens d’études supérieures canadiens et qui souhaitent poursuivre des recherches dans des universités, des bibliothèques, des archives, des instituts ou des laboratoires en Allemagne. Les bourses sont octroyées pour des séjours de un à trois mois.

GAIN sucht vier neue Beiräte

Das German Academic International Network (GAIN) ist das Netzwerk für deutsche Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler, die in Nordamerika tätig sind. Das GAIN Team unterstützt diese Gruppe aus der Geschäftsstelle in New York und sucht aktuell vier engagierte Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler für den GAIN-Beirat. Diese werden in Nordamerika an Universitäten, in Forschungseinrichtungen oder in Firmen arbeiten und Interesse haben die GAIN-Geschäftsstelle in New York zu beraten.

International Parliamentary Scholarships

The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) supports 5-month internships at the German Bundestag, the country's federal parliament.

Applicants must hold Canadian citizenship, have a university degree and very good knowledge of the German language.

The deadline is June 30, 2018 .

Montreal: April 14th
Degree Studies in Germany: What You Need To Know

DAAD Canada will be at the Goethe-Institut Montreal on Saturday, April 14th to give two information sessions on the theme "Degree Studies in Germany: What You Need to Know" .

These sessions (2 - 3 pm, in English; 3:15 - 4:15 pm, in French) will provide information on entrance requirements for degree studies, finding study programs, the application process, language requirements and much more.

All are welcome and admission is free.

DAAD Canada sera au Goethe-Institut Montréal le samedi 14 avril pour donner deux séances d'information sur le thème Étudier en Allemagne : ce que vous devez savoir .
 
Ces séances (de 14 h à 15 h, en anglais, et de 15 h 15 à 16 h 15, en français) vous fourniront de plus amples renseignements sur les conditions à remplir pour étudier en Allemagne, comment trouver le cursus de son choix, les possibilités de financement de ses études, les exigences linguistiques et bien plus.

Faculty and Student Information Sessions
DAAD Canada on Campus

DAAD will be visiting the campuses of both the University of Waterloor and Montreal's Concordia University this month to give information sessions for faculty and postdocs .

These sessions will give an overview of the German research landscape, its major players along with funding programs to support research activities in Germany and / or with German partners.
