News from DAAD Canada

DAAD has a busy month ahead with events in Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton and St. Catharines. Find full details on these activities below. Also please note the March 2nd deadline for this year's "Germany Today" Information Tour for representatives of universities, research institutions and funding agencies. Postdocs may be interested in the Fellowship Program offered by DAAD in partnership with the Leibniz Association the deadline to which is March 8th. This issue also includes the first notice of the upcoming deadline to DAAD's Young Ambassador Program, the deadline for which is April 12th.

News

Call for Applications "Germany Today" Information Tour DAAD invites representatives from Canadian universities, research institutions, and funding agencies to join us for the "Germany Today" Info Tour in June 2018. This year's tour is entitled "Getting to know Germany’s Universities of Applied Sciences: Applied Research, Career- Focused Training, and International Outlook". Deadline: March 8th Leibniz-DAAD Fellowship Program for Postdocs The Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship offers highly-qualified recent postdocs the opportunity to conduct special research at institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany. Applicants must have received their PhD (or equivalent qualification) no earlier than 2016. Deadline: April 15th DAAD Young Ambassadors Program Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students from North America that recently studied abroad in Germany and promote study in Germany at their home universities with help from the DAAD. DAAD is currently accepting nominations for the 2018-19 Young Ambassadors from university study abroad and international offices. (Only one student may be nominated per college or university.) The deadline for submissions is  April 15, 2018 . Click here for full details. Date limite : le 15 avril Programme des Jeunes Ambassadeurs du DAAD   Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs sont des étudiants de premier cycle d'Amérique du Nord qui ont récemment étudié en Allemagne et qui promeuvent les études en Allemagne auprès de leur université d'attache avec le soutien du DAAD.   Le DAAD accepte actuellement les candidatures pour les Jeunes Ambassadeurs 2018-19 émanant du bureau responsable des études à l'étranger ainsi que le service des relations internationales des universités (un seul étudiant peut être nommé par université). Deadline: May 15th Research Stays for Faculty DAAD's Research Stays program supports scholars working in all disciplines at Canadian institutions of higher education and who wish to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. Grants are issued for stays of between one and three months in length. The next deadline for this program is May 15, 2018 . Full details on the Research Stays program, including details on how to apply, can be found at www.daad-canada.ca/research-stays Date limite : le 15 mai Séjour de recherche pour les universitaires et les scientifiques   Le programme de séjour de recherche pour les universitaires et les scientifiques du DAAD soutient des chercheurs d’établissements canadiens d'études supérieures qui désirent poursuivre des recherches dans toutes les disciplines, y compris les arts de la scène et visuels, dans des universités, bibliothèques, archives, instituts ou laboratoires en Allemagne. Les subventions sont accordées pour des séjours d’un à trois mois. Deadline: June 30th International Parliamentary Scholarships The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) supports 5-month internships at the German Bundestag, the country's federal parliament. Applicants must hold Canadian citizenship, have a university degree and very good knowledge of the German language. The deadline is June 30, 2018 . Toronto & Montreal DAAD at Study and Go Abroad Expos DAAD Canada will be on hand at the "Study in Germany" booth at the  Study and Go Abroad Expos in Montreal (Saturday, March 3rd) and Toronto (Sunday, March 4th) .  The fairs run from 1 - 5 pm each day with details on the locations found at the links above. Montréal et Toronto DAAD présent à la foire « Study and Go Abroad »​ DAAD Canada sera sur place pour répondre à vos questions au kiosque « Étudier en Allemagne » lors de la foire « Study and Go Abroad » à Montréal, le samedi 3 mars , et à  Toronto, le dimanche 4 mars , de 13 h à 17 h (pour chacune des dates). Faculty and Student Information Sessions DAAD Canada on Campus DAAD will be visiting the campuses of both McMaster University and Brock University this month over give information sessions for faculty and postdocs . These sessions will give an overview of the German research landscape, its major players along with funding programs to support research activities in Germany and / or with German partners. Montreal: April 14th Degree Studies in Germany: What You Need To Know DAAD Canada will be at the Goethe-Institut Montreal on Saturday, April 14th to give two information sessions on the theme "Degree Studies in Germany: What You Need to Know" . These sessions (2 - 3 pm, in English; 3:15 - 4:15 pm, in French) will provide information on entrance requirements for degree studies, finding study programs, the application process, language requirements and much more. All are welcome and admission is free.
