DANCE: Access
Dagmar Spain/Dance Imprints
June 21-23, 2012 [Thu-Sat] $18 ($15 seniors/students)
DANCE: Access is a self-production series administered by Danspace Project that serves independent choreographers and dance companies.
Dagmar Spain (dancer, choreographer, actor) with her company Dance Imprints presents her newest work Yellow is not Gold, a mythical dance tale of 5 women embarking on a road of discovering treasures. "Can we truly uncover treasures within our lives just by seeking, or is not the road to discover them more obscure the harder we are seeking them?" This question is the leading thread through this multi-media work. Text by Carolyn Morrow; video work by Wayne Wong; composer and sound designer John Leaman; violinist Olivia De Prato; dancers Klara Burgess, Alejandra Pineiro, Dagmar Spain and Yamila Viana. In the second half of the program titled AWAIT... actor Iorgo Papoutsas and Dagmar Spain explore the state of waiting as a subtle and often angst-ridden tension in a seven scene short play. With dancers Klara Burgess and Yamila Viana; Adrienne Ramm on piano and Olivia de Prato on violin create a haunting score for this play.
Lighting design by Jax Brodsky. Costume design by Kristina Karmazinova.
