The Accountability Issue

October, 2015

From the Editor

I am almost certain that you hear the phrase #accountability and #transparency quite often, and especially now that the systems and organizations gear more toward efficiency and ethics.

'Accountability' remains to be one trending word globally, looking at recent accountability meltdowns at FIFA, Volkswagen, Carnegie Hall board, ICANN, WIPO.

Close to home, #DCATrust became the prevailing party in July 10 2015 after the IRP Panel ruling that concluded over a year and a half of review, on the .Africa domain application. The Panel ruled that #ICANN had indeed erred it not following its own bylaws.  This also occurs at a time time when the multistakeholder community at ICANN is looking to create a model that will fit into the specification of the NTIA in order to test if ICANN could become and independent organization, but will that happen?

Accountability is an integral part of governance, on the African perspective, the 2015 Ibrahim Governance paints a gloomy picture, is Africa Rising?

On Africa rising, we are looking at boosting a winning STEM program in Africa, Apply for the Miss.Africa 2015 Seed Funding Tech Initiative for women in Africa

As everyone tries to find the meaning of accountability, ask yourself are you for or against?
