The business is the Simply Sarah Bakery located in the former Nonna B's space in the rear of 422 Walnut.  This will be a special order bakery. Sarah is a young woman who is a graduate of Cincinnati State Culinary Program and has a degree as a pastry chef. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate this great new addition to Lawrenceburg!

2nd Annual Bash Before The Stash
Join us for the 2nd Annual Bash Before the Stash! BBTS is an exciting component to the much anticipated Mud-Stash Event. This event is a charity event, sponsored by Anytime Fitness, where proceeds will benefit Safe Passage, Inc., a local domestic violence victim shelter and awareness organization. 

Mingle with community members, Mud-Stash participants, AF owners and members from around the country and Anytime Fitness Co-Founders, Chuck Runyon and Dave Mortenson! There will be a cocktail hour, dinner, live entertainment and a silent auction hosted by local news a nchor Sheree Paolello from Cincinnati's own Channel 5, the local NBC affiliate. Seating is limited, purchase your ticket today.

Last year we raised over $20,000 to benefit Safe Passage, Inc. With the support of all in attendance we were able to make a tremendous impact on the organization. This year we hope to raise even more and with your help, we know we will be able to. Please join us and tell your friends to come too.

Safe Passage is dedicated to helping individuals and families live strong, safe lives that are free from violence. For more than 18 years, Safe Passage, Inc. has provided domestic violence victim services throughout Southeastern Indiana. Support is available through the 24 hour toll-free HelpLine, residential shelter and outreach services. Areas of focus for services are Indiana residents of Dearborn, Franklin, Jefferson, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland Counties; however, they offer assistance to anyone who contacts the HelpLine.

Hillforest Museum hosts Pioneer Day at Harris Cabin

The Pioneer spirit will be on display at the Harris Cabin Pioneer Day scheduled Saturday, May 14, 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Hillforest Museum, 213 Fifth Street, Aurora and neighboring Harris Cabin.  Pioneer Day committee Chair John Blasdel promises Pioneer Day will be an event not to be missed.  Kids will have the opportunity to explore early 1800's crafts and culture during this FREE family event sponsored in part by a Sprint Excellence in Education grant through the Dearborn Community Foundation.  Fifteen early pioneer crafters and presenters will be on-hand including:  a spinner, blacksmith, potter, hair weaver, a dulcimer player, goat farmer, and fraktur artist.    Harris Pioneer Day and the Harris Cabin restoration are designated official Indiana Bicentennial legacy projects. 

Organizations assisting with and supporting Pioneer Day are:  Aurora Lion's Club, Aurora Main Street, Aurora Public Library, Aurora Utilities, Boy Scout Troop #637, City of Spires Museum, Comb's Pizza, Dearborn County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Dearborn County CVB, South Dearborn High School, St. Mary's School, and many private individuals.   
Hands-on activities and pioneer games will be available for children to enjoy including candle dipping, designing a flag, making a yarn doll, quill and pen writing and more.  Rev. Samuel Harris, original owner of the 1820's cabin will be there to share the history of Harris Cabin and early Aurora.  Pioneer clothing created by Jane Hiltz's advanced sewing class of South Dearborn High School will be on display throughout the day. 
The Harris Cabin gifted to Hillforest Historical Foundation in 2008 by Martin and Marybeth Rahe, is sighted for restoration to be used as a community educational center once funds are secured.  The latest phase of restoration which included site development was funded by a $25,000 Lawrenceburg Community grant through the Dearborn Community Foundation.  Donations to the cabin fund may be sent to: Harris Cabin Fund, C/o Hillforest, P.O. Part of AIM Young Professionals of Dearborn County's mission is to support the next generation of outstanding individuals and entrepreneurs. One of the ways the organization does that is by offering the AIM YP Future Leaders of Dearborn County Scholarship.

This annual college scholarship worth up to $500 and a minimum of $250 is open to current senior students graduating from Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn, or East Central high schools in 2016.

Applicants are required to show their work experience, school activities, and community volunteer efforts. They must also complete two short essays: one about their education and career objectives as well as future goals. The second essay should be about a business idea they would like to see become a reality in Dearborn County.
A successful applicant should also include two letters of recommendation from a professional outside of their immediate family. A copy of the student's most recent report card or transcript is also requested.
