Is YOUR Local Unit in Good Standing?

See link below to connect to the Good Standing Requirements on our website.

89 Units are in Good Standing (3 more than last month)! Thank you!

22 Units only have ONE missing requirement.  NOTE: Most of these have not supplied a copy of their 2014-2015 audit to Council and to State.  This is a new IRS requirement this year.

Please contact Victor Melone at   localunits@dccpta.org  or  melonev@comcast.net  if you need help or have questions.

ESE News

Every year, the Florida Department of Education surveys the parents of students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP). (Students in the gifted program are not included in this survey unless they have an IEP for another special need.)

The survey is open online from February 1 - May 31.

You can complete the survey HERE, or request a paper copy from your school. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Parent feedback is important in helping state and local schools systems improve educational programs for children with special needs.

Duval County has over 17,000 students in the ESE program, yet only 1-2% of parents complete the survey each year. Miami and Orange County have response rates between 65-85%.

Please complete your survey soon.
If you, or someone you know,
would like information about how to start a PTA
at YOUR school, contact DCCPTA's
VP for Local Units, Victor Melone.

DCCPTA Awards are Due in April

Florida PTA Principal of the Year

Behind every successful PTA/PTSA, there is a school principal who is supportive, helpful and personally involved in the PTA/PTSA.

To recognize the principal who best fits this description, Florida PTA honors an Outstanding Principal of the Year.  If your principal promotes the mission of PTA and purposes of the Florida PTA and encourages the use of the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement, please go to our web site to show your support by nominating her/him for the Florida PTA Outstanding Principal of the Year.
