Back to School Night & BBQ

August 16 @ 4:00 pm

Cost: $6pp or $25 per family

 

Please join the Dominion family for a wonderful time of good food, fun and fellowship. There will be face painting, a volleyball tournament with teachers and parents vs. students, the Game Truck and much more!

 

This will also be a great time to get introduced and connected to your child's teachers.

 

An RSVP form and payment opportunities will be on our website next week. You will be notified with a reminder of the Back to School night via email.

 

Supply List

General supply lists for school will be sent out next week to all families via email.


Business Office Reminder

2012-2013 Activity Fees have been billed to student accounts as of 7/1/2012  $200 now due - please mail or drop in the office dropbox.

First Day of School

First day of school is Friday, August 10. This is a half day (noon dismissal). Locker assignments and a modified scheduled will be followed. This is not an "optional" day. Although, it is a half day, there will be information, instruction and orientation for both new and returning students that is critical to the successful start of the school year.

 

Uniform Changes

Just a reminder to order/buy your uniform needs before the first day of school. Very little changes have been made to our uniform policy. Here are the highlights of the minor changes:

  • On chapel Plaid skirts (or plaid Skorts may be worn by middle school) are required on chapel days. Uniform skirts can be purchase from Uniform Source.
  • If worn, socks, knee highs, tights or leggings must be solid navy, white, gray or black. No multicolored or patterns will be allowed on uniform days.
  • On chapel days, dress shoes are required. No Toms or canvas-type shoes are appropriate for chapel day.
  • Boots will be allowed only during cold weather months as determined by the administration.

Please purchase your uniform embroidered Polo shirts, school tie, and plaid skirts at Uniform Source on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw. In addition to these required uniform pieces, Uniform Source has other DCS logo items that are optional.

 

Spirit wear (hoodies, sweatshirts, spirit tees) will be sold through the school. Information on ordering and dates will be provided at the beginning of the school year.

Daily Schedule & Chapel

Our daily schedule has been adjusted for the 2012-2013 school year. Notably, chapel time has been moved to Wednesday, first thing in the morning (8 am). Attendance, of course, is required. Parents are welcome to join us every (or any) Wednesday as we start out the school day with worship and a focus on God's word.

 

Fire Lanes

As you come onto campus, you will notice that some curbs around the drop off/pick up areas are painted RED.

 

The "Red Zones" are designated emergency vehicle lanes to provide emergency services vehicles immediate access to these properties for the purpose of emergency response.

 

You may continue using these areas for drop off and pick up of your student. However, please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended for any reason in these designated areas. Cobb County police have the responsibility to enforce this ordinance and will issue citations for violations.

 

RenWeb & Student Schedules

Middle School electives will not show up preliminary schedules. Whatever electives you have chosen will show up on the final schedule. If you would like to change your music elective or add MS Theater, please email Mrs. Peeples (speeples@dominionmail.org).

 

For high school students, study halls may be replaced by Teachers Assistant. However, teachers approval is needed. Forms will be provided at the beginning of the academic year. Additionally, teachers may email Mrs. Peeples TA requests.

 

NOTE: Mrs. Peeples is answering emails regarding change requests and clarification. With so many questions, there will be a reasonable delay in returning emails. Please allow 24-48 hours for her to respond to your emails. Rest assured, that she will respond to any questions you may have.

 

Final date for change requests is 8/17/12. Please note that change requests are not a guarantee. Please refer to the student handbook for specifications in regards to schedule change requests.

 

If you do not have access to RenWeb, please contact Mr. Lightner (mlightner@dominionmail.org) to find out how resolve this issue.

 

Textbooks

Student should have all required textbooks by the first day of school. Schedules are available on RenWeb. Textbooks may be purchased through our online store (MBS Direct). If purchasing books from alternative vendors/providers, please verify you are purchasing the correct text (publisher/edition) for each course (ISBN numbers are shown when logging into MBS Direct).

 

When Will Standardized Testing Results Be Available?

Standardized testing scores will be available at Back to School Night/BBQ.

 

Update on Coach Koch 

Thank you all for praying for my team and our tournament in Houston back in May.  We had a great trip and we competed very well, however we ended up in 5th place.  There were no serious injuries so your prayers worked and were appreciated!!  Thanks again for your encouragement and support!

Needing to Complete Online Enrollment? 

To access ParentsWeb:

  • Please go to www.renweb.com
  • Select Logins from the menu bar and ParentsWeb Login from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter DCHS-GA into the District Code field.
  • Enter your username and password.  If you have forgotten your username or password, please click on the link provided.
  • After logging in, click on the Family Information button in the left menu.
  • Click on the Enrollment/Reenrollment button.

Our Online Enrollment system will open with a link to the enrollment packet for your student.   The online process should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.  Your information will be saved if you need to quit and come back later.

 

Are You Ready for Some Football?  

DCS Football Are you ready for some football!!!  Football season is back!  God has expanded our territory!  This year we will field three teams.  Middle school, junior varsity, and varsity!

 

Practice starts august 6.   

 

Do not miss it!  Come and be a part of the excitement!  Whether it is as a player, cheerleading, doing stats, being the mascot, playing in the "pep band", or fan come out and be a part of knight football!

The office will be open to serve you on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 8 am - 2 pm, and closed on Mondays and Fridays.

The office will be closed June 28-July 9; reopens July 10.
