"On Mission" in Ecuador, June 2017
DoMissions is a team of DCS students, parents, faculty, and staff devoted to serving people (stateside and abroad) for the glory of God.
Each summer, Dr. Chuck Whittaker leads the DoMission team to areas in need. This year, DCS students traveled to Quito, Ecuador to serve, support, and work with a variety of ministries:
- Dunamis Ministries - Dunamis is a non-profit organization in Quito providing a safe place for girls who have survived sex and labor trafficking. Dunamis enables transformation in lives through Jesus Christ.
- Funapace - a ministry serving patients with cerebral palsy. Our students volunteered at their center through visitation and helping with various forms of therapy.
- Bethel High School - DoMissions has worked at Bethel on several trips. This year's project included intense labor toward building the two final classrooms.
In addition to ministry, students experienced travel to see some of Ecuador's beautiful culture and country. The mission team capped of their trip with a visit to Missionary Aviation Fellowship -- the headquarters for the missionaries who reached out and paid with their lives to win the souls of many Waorani Indians to Christ.
Dr. Whittaker expressed, "My biggest prayer is that students will respond gratefully to these hosts of blessing. I want them to discipline themselves toward godliness and permanently cement these memories in their hearts. It should remind them that our God is wonderful and worthy of our sincerest pursuit."
Colossians 1:10 "...pleasing the Lord, and bearing fruit in every good work..."
