December 2015
Center Update
How are you with things as they are? Can you witness atrocities, listen to them on television, see them on the street and bare witness to them? Really be there with them? Not just passively say 'Well, that's the way it is' and do nothing. We can take action. We can volunteer. We can donate. We can act.
-Chodo Campbell on The Present Moment
And suddenly, it's December.
Mistletoe, merriment and mayhem.
We wish you a spacious and gracious holiday season,
and a bright new year filled with peace and joy.
Please note:
The Center will closed for the Holidays from 2pm December 24th
We will open on January 3rd for our Sunday morning sit at 10am.
WE WELCOME OUR NEWEST 108 MEMBERS!
"NYZCCC felt like home from the first time I entered the space for Karuna Sangha. There, I've been able to deepen my practice and get to know sangha members. In my often crazy, busy life, it' wonderful to have a refuge to return to."
Brian Dumont
I have always struggled with the concept of theistic religion,
yet I have felt a strong spiritual force within me.
I found an immediate resonance and grounding at NYZCCC, where being part of the warm community and practicing Zazen has been a wonderful and enriching experience."
Andrew Hawkins
"This is a place of great warmth, generosity and caring. Coming here feels like coming home."
Jeannette Kossuth
"I support NYZCCC because Chodo skypes me and we chant together. Can't get my kids to do that! I'm a Tassajara graduate and old man Suzuki Roshi was a fanatic about perfect posture, but a full lotus is in my past, so this is a prank on his spirit. Thank you."
Dr. Robert Lewy
"NYZCCC is simply home for me and the sangha is my family. The monetary investment is a small part of the life investment I make for the Center's philosophy to grow and prosper for all sentient beings."
lu morrissey
"The honor and blessing of my mother's transition nearly ten years ago has transformed me forever. The spiritual connection is infinite and her guidance in unfolding my path has allowed me to be present with my higher self. NYZCCC opens the door of transformation to those who seek the beauty in life & death."

We are proud to announce that our first book,
AWAKE AT THE BEDSIDE, is available for pre-order on
Amazon.com.
Last week it was the number one new book on Amazon in end-of-life-care!
This book is not about dying. It is about life and what it has to teach us. Thought leaders in the field of contemplative caregiving offer wisdom and insight for those who keep watch at the bedside. It is an indispensable resource for anyone involved in hospice work, or caregiving of any kind.
"
Moving and informative-this is a much needed book! Put into practice, the wisdom of
Awake at the Bedside could transform end-of-life care in America. And, every reader will receive support from the collective understanding shared in these pages.
"
