Get well soon Nichelle Nichols, (aka Lt. Nyota Uhura from Star Trek).

Nichols was a TV rarity when "Star Trek" began in 1966: a Black woman in a notable role on a prime-time series. There had been African-American women on TV before, but they often played maids or domestics; Nichols' Uhura was an integral part of the multicultural "Star Trek" crew.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called it "the first nonstereotypical role portrayed by a black woman in television history."

Black Student Claims Trip to China Revealed Ugly Truths About How the Chinese View "Dark Skin"

Just like in most countries in Asia, Chinese people also associate lighter skin color with beauty. People with dark skin, be it their own fellow countrymen or foreigners working or studying in China, often have to face racism that ranges in level from barely overt to outright violent.

A person who has had firsthand experience about how it really is in China is Ghanaian student Zahra Baitie, who wrote for The Atlantic about her one-year stay in China. The one word she used to describe the whole trip was it being one big "ordeal."

Obama Signs Blue Alert Law to Help Catch People Who Threaten Cops

For the better part of this week, the mainstream media has been piling praise on President Obama for taking steps to demilitarize local police. Totally ignored by everyone except the Capitol Hill press, however, is a bill Obama signed on Tuesday that would, according to The Hill, "create a national alert system to help authorities find people who kill, injure or make imminent threats against police."

White Biker Gang Massive Brawl That Left 9 Dead Described as "Rumble" by White Media
It seems that whenever the black community riots, the right wing
media goes into overdrive blaming cultural deficiencies within the black community. Meanwhile, the mainstream media wastes no time interviewing members of the right wing press, or pseudo-scientists, in a pretend effort to get to the bottom of the supposed failings of the black community.

Poll: White People Believe Blacks "Seeking an Excuse" to Loot Caused Baltimore Riots

America needs a history lesson.  This is why African American history/African History needs to be taught in every school in America.  So many people are ignorant of the history of African Americans how the conditions that exist today were created.

A WSJ/NBC News poll found that the majority of blacks, 60 percent, answered that the riots were caused by "longstanding frustration about police mistreatment of African-Americans." Meanwhile, the majority of whites, 58 percent, attributed the riots to  "people seeking an excuse to engage in looting and violence."

This is a very sad story.  The mother of Tamir Rice, the 12 year old, African American boy who was shot and killed by a Cleveland Police Officer who according to reports, should have never been on the street, is now living in an homeless shelter because she could no longer live next door to the killing field of her son.  Hopefully there will be justice for the is family.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch Makes Coddling Police Her First Priority  - by Yvette Carnell, BreakingBrown.com

Given the number of African-Americans who've been injured or killed at the hands of police, one would assume that America's first black woman attorney general would be singularly focused on holding law enforcement officers accountable. According to the New York Times, however,  the opposite is true. Loretta Lynch is reportedly planning to visit local police stations as a show of support for officers.

IT'S TIME FOR ECONOMIC BOYCOTTS
Start watching this clip of "Eyes On The Prize" at 13:48.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTUs_rl6oE8  There should be MAJOR ECONOMIC BOYCOTTS of the Downtown Business District of Baltimore, MD by African Americans and Boycott all of the Sports Teams in Baltimore until the mistreatment at the hands of the Police STOPS. Study what happened in Nashville, TN in 1961 during the Lunch Counter Sit Ins. Here is a documented, historical example of "Economic Boycotts" by African Americans being used and WORKING.

Ask yourself this question, why aren't the Civil Rights Superstars that have you out marching and protesting talking about Economic Boycotts? A portion of the dollars should also be redirected towards African American Owned Businesses.

The complex economic situation for African American women

Reported by Marvin Dupree, April 26th, 2015

In recent years, there has been an inclination among individuals within the United States to resort to assortative mating, which is essentially choosing a mate with a similar educational background. Indeed, when Princeton alum Susan A. Patton advised female students to seek out a spouse whilst in college back in 2013, it caused an outcry. Her argument was that it was the best time in their lives to find a mate due to the myriad of options. These remarks caused quite the commotion, and accusations that Patton harbored old-fashioned values went viral.
