DEVELOPMENT CODE 6 MONTH UPDATE - YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SHARE THIS INFO AND ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT MEETING
The Development Code has been in effect since September 15th, 2017. In practice City Staff has found elements and prescribed requirements that need refining to better and more efficiently apply the code. As part of the requirement to present any changes to the Code the public was informed in 2 February meetings and Planning Commission heard the changes on February 27th. They voted to defer the decision to adopt the changes until their next meeting in March.

City Staff presented the proposed changes and discussed what these changes mean within the context of how the Code is applied. You may find all of the related documentation HERE with the summary document of the changes found HERE.. You are highly encouraged to review this information to form your own opinion about how it may affect your property and that of others in your neighborhood.

The position of HOA Leaders we have heard from on the following changes are:
1) Addition of Boutique Retail in ON- Zoning District (OPPOSED)
2) Allowed Grading in Side Setbacks (ALLOW A % ONLY)
3) Allowed Grading in Rear Setbacks (OPPOSED)
4) Retaining Walls in Side and Rear Setbacks (OPPOSED)

6) Transition Buffer Modifications (ALLOW ONLY INVASIVES REMOVED)
7) Chain Linked Fences (ALLOW IN REAR ONLY)
8) Civic Use Property Setbacks (GENERALLY OPPOSED BUT ALLOW TO MODIFY TO 50 FEET FROM 100 FEET)

The proposed changes will be considered again by Planning Commission at their March meeting. You are encouraged to review the proposed changes and attend this important meeting. It is critical that your voice be heard at the upcoming Planning Commission on March 27, and at the Mayor and City Council meeting on April 17. You may submit comments to City Planning Staff by emailing:  [email protected]
