Lighthouse Bank Employees Host Party to Benefit Clients of Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center!

Lighthouse Bank employees Cathy Atwood and Brianna Carabba organized a gathering of girlfriends and asked the women to open their closets and collect gently used clothing and accessories to be donated to those served by the  Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center .

Donations made to Walnut Avenue support families who are trying to heal from domestic violence situations and/or are families utilizing our Early Childhood Education Center (subsidized child care with a focus on early literacy and social-emotional skills for kindergarten prep)! Many of the families participating in Walnut Avenue programs are from under-served populations due to poverty, early pregnancy, homelessness and/or domestic violence. Walnut Avenue seeks to improve the economic, physical, and emotional well-being of all the families we serve. Often pegged as the "women's center", they want the community to know that their services aim to support the entire family and eliminate barriers for local families to thrive.

Walnut Avenue accepts donations each Monday & Tuesday of gently used clothing, shoes, personal care supplies. They also accept non-perishable food items for their food bank, diapers and baby formula, gently used toys and household items. They are currently inviting donations for their Turkey Drive ($60 buys a turkey dinner for a family or 4!) and the Adopt-a-Family program for holiday gift buying. Just give them a call at 831-426-3062 to request a family-size of your choice. WAFWC is located at 303 Walnut Avenue, Santa Cruz.

MAH Abbot Square Project is now Under Construction!

Pictured: Lighthouse Bank employees, Brianna Carabba, Jon Sisk, & Michele Bassi celebrating with Nina Simon, MAH Executive Director at the "Under Construction" Donor Appreciation Party.

Lighthouse Bank is proud to support the Museum of Art and History's Abbott Square project. Abbott  Square is going to be  a family-friendly town square that links the creative energy of the MAH to the  greater downtown. While the MAH is the driving force behind the redevelopment of Abbott Square, this work is
happening in close partnership with the City of Santa Cruz and the County of Santa Cruz, as well as community  members representing business, residential, creative, and family interests. MAH has worked with hundreds of community members  and a designer selected through a competitive process to develop their vision. A successful plaza will incorporate powerful public art, ongoing activities and performances, a strong connection to  museum programming, and delicious food. It will serve multiple constituencies: downtown office workers, families, and visitors. It will transform the Abbott Square into a creative heart for Downtown.
