David M. Schwarz Architects Special Announcement
January 15, 2015

We are honored to announce that David M. Schwarz has been named the recipient of the 2015 Richard H. Driehaus Prize at the University of Notre Dame. The Richard H. Driehaus Prize, which is awarded annually to a living architect, was established in 2003 to honor lifetime contributions to traditional, classical and sustainable architecture and urbanism in the modern world.

Michael Lykoudis, Driehaus Jury Chair and Dean of the Notre Dame School of Architecture, announced the 2015 Driehaus and Henry Hope Reed Award Laureates yesterday in South Bend. During his remarks, Dean Lykoudis noted, "David Schwarz has succeeded in establishing a renewed and spirited dialogue about the nature of architecture and urbanism in the post-war period. He has woven traditional principles with modernity throughout various scales and building types that characterize our contemporary world." A video of the full announcement and text of the formal statement from the school can be viewed here.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, DMSAS Principal Craig Williams, who has worked with David since the firm's inception in the late 1970's, has also offered a special tribute to David in "A Toast to the Protector of the Body of Work," available on Parchment.

We hope you will all join Craig and the DMSAS family as we raise a glass to David.

With our warmest regards,
David M. Schwarz Architects
