Spring is officially here and we can all look forward to beautiful weather in our city! It's a great time for downtown as business increases for our restaurants and more people enjoy our beautiful parks.
This is also the time of year when traffic significantly increases downtown. During our last DNA meeting Colonel Gloria Bullock, Commander at the North Main Station, gave us all some helpful tips to use as visitation picks up.
Be aware of the popular days for Tom Lee Park and use alternate routes when possible. Keep your car doors locked when parked on the street at night. Colonel Bullock mentioned a lot of calls they receive surrounding car break-ins could have been prevented if the car owner had simply locked their doors.
These are just two of her simple tips, but we all need to do our part to keep downtown safe and enjoyable. Please continue to look out for your neighbors and be great ambassadors for downtown! I look forward to seeing you all soon and make sure you save the date for our next DNA meeting on 4/26.

While Earth Day is nationally celebrated on one day (April 22nd), Memphis is celebrating all month with clean-ups throughout the city! Businesses, neighborhoods, non-profits, and community centers are all pitching in to host clean-ups. 22 large-scale cleanup projects are scheduled so far with more being added each week. Additionally, there will be four environmental education fairs, service learning projects for local schools, park projects, garden plantings and more. Last year this effort removed over 100 tons of litter from Memphis streets!

If any individuals or businesses want to get more involved in the Memphis Clean by 2019 efforts, please contact Janet Boscarino with Clean Memphis at janet@cleanmemphis.org.
