A Message from the Chairman of the Board
-Michael Natzic

Starry Starry Night is right around the corner and this year will be better than ever! Celebrating 35 years as a leader of domestic violence prevention and education makes this year even more special. Not many non-profits can say that they have made it this far but DOVES’ mission keeps us on task and we want you to join us! This year we will
celebrate Starry Starry Night on September 30th with amazing food, live music, live auction, silent auction and DOVES’ ever famous desert auction! Will you be the one this year that has the winning bid for the anniversary cake?!?!. This year’s funds will also go to support our Transitional Living Program. The funds from last year and the additional of funds this year will allow us to continue to build this program which is currently serving over 20 families in the Big Bear Valley which includes over 40 children. Tickets are limited and we ask that you reserve them soon. For tickets and sponsorships, please contact DOVES at  909-866-1546  or online at  www.doves4help.org .
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event - Sunday September 17th at 12:30pm
DOVES’ annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event will take place on Sunday September 17 th from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Community Church in Big Bear Lake. Participants will don their high-heeled shoes and march through The Village to show that Big Bear stands in solidarity against domestic violence and sexual assault. This event gives the men in our community a unique opportunity help raise awareness about these issues. “Just your size” shoes will be available for all men in attendance and a free lunch will also be provided. In the past participants have included the Big Bear High School Football, Dance, and Cheer teams, members of the Sheriff Dept., Fire Dept., and even former mayors and state officials. We are hoping to make this event the biggest yet! So come out and join us on Sunday the 17th for a great time and a good cause. If you have any questions about the event, please contact Quinton Page at 909.866.1546
Lorrie's House Resident's Poem

One of our resident's at Lorrie's House wrote this poem and we would like to share it with our supporters:

Darkness is a shadow that cover my heart and I'm afraid it will never part.
I am broken and have many words unspoken.
My pain is so deep no one ever hears me weep.
I cry out loud in silence while I go through so much violence.
I raise my hands up to my higher power and ask God to please save me from this pain.
I know this is a storm and this too shall pass in the rain.
Thank you for Supporting the Rodrider's Annual Car Show Benefiting DOVES
We would like to thank the Rodriders for all of their hard work and continued support of DOVES. We would also like to specifically thank Gary Vander Linde of Redlands for donating his 50/50 raffle prize winnings to DOVES! It was a beautiful, fun day, and all of those who came out to support DOVES joined us in the fight to end domestic violence.
