NOW: Ready to dive into Volunteering? Here are our latest needs!
#1: CALL FOR AN AUCTION CO-CHAIR!

2018 will be the 10th Annual Miraloma Auction and it is a smooth running machine with a rock-star team in place. We need an Auction Co-Chairperson to partner with our current (and seasoned) Co-Chair Catherine Homsey to help steer the team and make this the best auction yet!

The annual Auction is our school's single biggest fundraising activity of the year. Proceeds from the Auction fund a variety of student enrichment programs such as PE, the STEAM lab, outside science, dance, class field trips, healthy snack, literacy programs, and more.  Make a difference in your child's education and join the team!
#2 FILMMAKER(S) NEEDED!

Help support our kids by making a compelling 2-minute movie to show at our annual Auction. You will highlight our students and all the wonderful programs that our PTA funds. Be a part of our amazing auction team and support our beloved school by sharing your talents! More information and details available.

#3: CALL FOR AN INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEK PARENT LEAD!

We need an ISW Lead(s)*, who coordinates our wonderful Inclusive Schools Week in early December. This person(s) will coordinate with other ISW volunteers, including working with the ISW Art Project sub-lead (Ryan Silvers). The ISW Lead is responsible for ISW communication to the community (through the newsletter, etc.) and coordinates volunteers to create in-class activities and present an all-school assembly (if time permits). In addition, the Lead helps coordinate the parent volunteers for our PE Ability Awareness stations as well as helps with the Family Potluck. [*If you have someone you'd like to share the work with, Co-Lead pairs are welcome!]

The ISW Lead is a short term position - work begins in late October/early November and ends after the first week of December. Check out our webpage if you're unfamiliar with ISW but would like to see what the week is all about!

Interested? Contact Brigitta Dougherty, PTA Volunteer Coordinator: volunteer@miralomasf.com

OCT 28: Miraloma Neighborfest
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
In front of the school on Omar Way
(between Rockdale and Sequoia)

Food, Family Fun, and a Firetruck!

Wear your Halloween Costume too!

As you know, Miraloma Elementary is committed to your family's health and safety. That's why we've partnered with the Miraloma Park Improvement Club on the first ever Miraloma Neighborfest.

There will be fun for all:
  • Free food, prizes, live music, fire truck, talking police car, and the Bookmobile.
  • Learn about preparedness and see a demonstration of the disaster response supplies and equipment purchased for our neighborhood through Supervisor Norman Yee's Participatory Budget Grant Program.
It will be a grand day for our neighborhood! Come join us and celebrate the resilience of Miraloma Park.
OCT 31: Halloween Parade
Halloween parade 2016 This year's Halloween Parade will start at 1:15pm on Tuesday Oct 31, in the Upper Yard.  The parade will end close to  1:45. S ome teachers will dismiss directly from the yard and others will dismiss from classrooms, depending on teacher preference.

Please remember that as per SFUSD policy, no sweets or edible treats are permitted at school - check out our   treats and wellness policy on our website.

Additionally, please do not send your students to school in a costume that includes fake weapons or really terrifying/ bloody/ gory costumes that will give our kinder students nightmares. There is a big gray area with halloween costumes, so thanks for erring on the safe and friendly side :)

Adults:
  • You are welcome/encouraged to dress up - but, no face masks
  • Please remain on the outside of the Morning Circle
  • Take pictures/videos and share them on our Shutterfly Site.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
