MAY 14: PARENT PUBERTY EDUCATION WORKSHOP
Each year, our 4th and 5th grade students participate in a health and puberty education series provided by a district-approved outside educator,   Superstar Health Education (SHE) .

SHE will hold a  Parent Puberty Education Workshop NEXT MONDAY, May 14, 6:30-8:00 pm  in the Auditorium All parents/guardians are welcome!

MAY 14: School Site Council Meeting
Our next SSC (School Site Council) meeting will take place next Monday. To accommodate parents who wish to attend the Puberty Education Workshop, SSC will meet 5:30-6:30 pm in the library. See our agenda here

In the spirit of full transparency, the SSC will be posting all of our minutes from this year's meetings on the Miraloma website, along with the School Survey Presentation that was shared at the March SSC-PTA meeting. Going forward, SSC minutes will be posted after every meeting. 

MAY 17: TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON - Call for Volunteers
In appreciation of our wonderful teachers and staff here at Miraloma, the PTA will host a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:20 am in the library to thank them for all their hard work.
  • DESSERTS: We will be accepting special desserts in the library prior to 11:00 am. 
  • SET-UP / CLEAN-UP: We also need help with set-up between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Cleanup commences around 1:15pm.
  • FLOWERS: If you have flowers in your garden and would like to donate some to brighten the room, please pop them in the buckets provided outside the cafeteria during circle time or bring them to the library.

MAY 28: STAFF APPRECIATION GIFT
We would like to give an end-of- year gift of app rec iation to the over 40 wonderful and hard-working staff me mbers here at Miraloma. 
 
 
These are the folks who support ou r teachers and our school, and inter act with our kids every day.  T hey are our librarian, custodial staff, lunchroom staff, counselors, student adviser, secretary, principal, coach, and many others.

MAY 30: FIELD DAY -- VOLUNTEER TO HELP!
Field Day is planned for Wednesday, May 30th on the grass field at Miraloma Park!  Field Day is the culminating event for our PE program & will include many fun games & activities for your child as a celebration of their learning in PE this year.

To make this event a success, I need community help running activity stations. I'll provide you with all the details you'll need to make this a great experience for all. This is a very fun day out on the field, so I hope you will join us in making it a success for all Miraloma students!


M ay 30th Field Day Schedule:
  • 8:20 - 9:30 am = 4th & 5th Grade Field Day
  • 9:45 - 10:55 am = Kinder & 1st Grade Field Day
  • 12:20 - 1:30 pm = 2nd & 3rd Grade Field Day
  • You can sign up for one or multiple time slots.
  • My plan is to assign 2 or more adults to each station, so you are never on your own.
  • The focus is on fun, inclusion, & celebrating our students' physical skills!

APRIL & MAY: SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENTS
Testing for our 3rd, 4th & 5th graders continues through Friday, June 1. Testing schedules are different for every class - ask your teacher if you need additional info. Please make sure 3rd - 5th graders are in school during this period of time and thank you for encouraging them to try their best.
