Welcome, Nate!
DSAWM's new Program Director Nate Clark is a Grand Rapids native. He received his Bachelors in Spanish from Michigan State University before going on to earn his Masters in Counseling from Cornerstone University. An avid sports fan, Nate enjoys to travel, read, run triathlons, and play trivia with friends. He is also a leader for Young Life Capernaum. Please join us in welcoming Nate to the DSAWM family on September 18.
Baby Sign Language Class
With just a few simple signs from American Sign Language, you can start communicating with your child – even before (s)he starts to talk! Signing is fun, easy to do, and great for your child’s development! Classes will be held Saturdays in October. Siblings will be welcomed as space allows.

Buddy Up is Back!
Buddy Up Tennis starts this Saturday! This tennis program for children and teens with Down syndrome (ages 5 and older) encourages social and motor skill development.

The first session of Buddy Up this Saturday is a special clinic open to any athlete with Down syndrome ages 5 and older, even if you aren't a DSAWM member.

Be a Buddy
Do you enjoy being active and encouraging others? If so, you will love volunteering at Buddy Up Tennis! This tennis program for children and teens with Down syndrome (ages 5 and older) encourages social and motor skill development.

Buddy Up starts this Saturday, but you can sign up for volunteer times that fit your schedule throughout the fall. No tennis experience required - just a great attitude. For details, email [email protected].
Free Dance Classes
Integrity School of Dance Arts in Byron Center offers free dance classes for students with disabilities ages 6-18. Everything is free including shoes, dance attire and recital costumes! Classes are Tuesdays 6-7pm, September-May.

Loving Families Needed
Two West Michigan children with Down Syndrome are currently seeking forever families. Remember, DSAWM offers Adoption Assistance to help with the costs associated with adopting a child with Down syndrome.

Carl
Carl is a loving and happy 8-year-old who amazes the people close to him. “Carl has a great deal of potential,” says his worker. “He continues to learn new things that were thought to be impossible.” Carl’s favorite activities include playing on his tablet and playing outside. Logan
Fifteen-year-old Logan is generally happy, loves attention, and loves when others play near him and read books to him. Logan enjoys watching cartoons, listening to music, and the company of others. Logan has multiple impairments. There are NO fees for his adoption, and a subsidy will travel with him. Click here to learn more about Logan.
