Updates From Your Principal

NicoleAssisi Hello Da Vinci Families,

As always, excitement is high here at Da Vinci. As you may have read earlier today, the Da Vinci Schools Board of Trustees approved Michelle Rainey as the incoming Principal of DVIA. I could not be more excited about their selection! I have worked with Michelle for the past 5 years and know her to be a person with great vision, follow through and passion. She is the perfect person to build upon the work that has already been taking place. As a parent and current staff member, she knows you and your children and cares deeply about the work happening already.

I would be lying if I said it is easy to leave here, but knowing that my trusted colleague and friend is taking over this labor of love makes the journey much easier.

Baby Assisi will be born near his grandparents in San Diego  and I will do my best to connect with all of you over the next month as Michelle and I complete our transitions.

During my last month here at Da Vinci, I am excited for recent events and amazing opportunities still to come!  We enjoyed an inspiring Poetry Jam this week and we will experience the amazing things our students have learned during the upcoming end-of-year POLs.  Make sure to read on to learn about other fun events happening here!

With much gratitude,
Nicole

Camp VIP: Exciting Enrichment Opportunities during July

Did your student enjoy learning the game of chess from Coach Rasheme in the elective class this year, or participate in one of Coach Rich's athletic classes? Both of these popular instructors are offering activites at Camp VIP, a summer enrichment program during July held at Pacific School in Manhattan Beach. This program, in it's 11th year, attracts families from the entire south bay for students entering grades K-8. Why not consider a week or more for your student's summer schedule? All information is available at psmanhattan.org, and flhyers are available in the DVIA office. Please feel free to contact Nancy Rosenburg, Program Director at nsrosenb@aol.com or 301-503-1771 for any questions or to help choose an appropriate option.
