Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Michelle

Hello everyone!

It is hard to believe that October is almost over.  Thank you for sharing your family with us for another wonderful month.

We had so much fun at Friday's Movie Night.  It was great to see families enjoying good company, tasty treats and super fun crafts and games together.  It was even nicer to see everyone settle in to watch a movie together.  Thank you for joining us!  I want to especially thank all of the families who helped out with set up, clean up, serving food, selling tickets, etc.  So many of you pulled together to make the night happen.  A HUGE shout out to Nancy Slupski and her family for the countless hours they spent gathering materials, testing out crafts and games, setting up and cleaning up afterwards.  Another shout out to Tyler for coordinating this event.  He added a lot of touches that really took it to the next level.  I look forward to the many future community events that he makes happen!

As a final reminder about this week's Spirit Day, please make sure your child is wearing an outfit that reflects the habit of reflection or else every-day dress-code appropriate attire.  We have noticed an increase in rather form-fitting leggings/yoga pants as well as jeans with rips and tears.  Please remember to reference the dress code (found here) with your child.

Thank you and have a great week!

Here's what you need to know this week:

Tuesday, October 29th | 6:00 to 7:30 pm | Forum

One Day Only Location Change for Enrichment
Wednesday, October 30th
Due to a previously scheduled Halloween event at the Hawthorne Memorial Center, Enrichment will take place on the DVIA campus on October 30th. The schedule is the same as usual, but please remember to drop off and pick up your kiddos at school and not the Hawthorne Memorial Center.

Pizza Lunch & Spirit Days
Thursday, October 31st & Friday, November 1
Core 4 families are asked to host this month. Supplies  and volunteers are still needed!  These events are "for families, by families" and depend on volunteers to make them happen.  Sign up here.

The Spirit Days for October will focus on the "Reflection" Habit of Heart & Mind. Students are encouraged to dress up in a costume that symbolizes how they reflect on
their school work, themselves and/or their world. One example is a student wearing her Brownie uniform because she has reflected that Brownies make the world a better place. Another might be a student who dresses as Leonardo Da Vinci because he reflected that his Da Vinci report didn't capture his best work. Students will have an opportunity to share their costume at Community Dialogue meetings.

A Note from FAN!
Thank you to all the families who donated supplies,  volunteered their time and attended Movie Night!!  It was a fun night and we also raised funds for DVIA--THANK YOU!!!

If you haven't had a chance to fill out our parent survey, please take a minute right now: quick survey. The survey is mobile-friendly.
