Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Michelle

Hello everyone!

I am excited to let you know about a couple of things.  First, thanks to the funds generated at Movie Night, we are in the process of installing a 32 foot horizontal climbing wall along the fence on the field!  A group of Sigma Chi fraternity brothers from LMU joined Tyler yesterday to install the structure of the climbing wall and the handholds and footholds will be installed during Thanksgiving Break.  The staff will develop climbing norms to ensure safe play and those will be posted soon.
I'd also like to tell you that our 2014-2015 application is now available online. Please share the news with family, friends and anyone you know who is interested in attending Da Vinci. We encourage people to use the online application as they will receive confirmation that their application was submitted. Please know that if your child is already enrolled at DVIA, you do not need to submit an application for next year. However, 8th graders MUST submit an application to the Da Vinci high schools and if you (or a friend/family member) has a child on the current DVIA wait list, a 2014-2015 application must be submitted as well.  You may have friends/family interested in full-time (5-day) Independent Study.  Please know that we are in the process of developing an amazing program for the 2014-2015 school year.  Applicants must select EITHER the 2-day hybrid program OR the full-time I.S. program. Applications are due February 28th at 4:00pm.

Thanks everyone!  We have a couple big weeks coming up.  Enjoy them!

Tyler's Two Cents

tyler two cents Time is flying and Exhibition is right around the corner! Exhibition is an opportunity for students to show an aspect of what they've been learning this year and more importantly, a time to demonstrate their public speaking and presentation skills!

Please remember that Exhibition is mandatory for all students and in honor of the event, we have a special dress code.  If you have any questions about dress code requirements, don't hesitate to email me.

Exhibition will take place on Tuesday, Nov 19th (for our Tuesday/Friday cohort) and Thursday, Nov 21st (for our Monday/Thursday cohort) from 5-6:30pm. Bring the whole family and invite friends!

Keep on persevering!
