Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Hello Everyone!

I want to take a moment to introduce a new staff member, Theresa Leone, who will be joining the Da Vinci Innovation Academy staff as an academic coach supporting our kinder through second grade students.  Theresa comes with 12 years of experience teaching K-5th grade and is passionate about innovative teaching and connecting with students.  Theresa is replacing Jessica LeTarte, who supported DVIA students as an academic coach for the past two years.  Jessica has taken a full-time position at Echo Parenting & Education and plans to remain connected to DVIA through her outreach to schools.  Welcome Theresa!  She is a fabulous addition to our staff!
Have a great week!

Tyler's Two Cents

tyler two cents
Just a reminder that our next Pizza/Spirit Day is this Thursday and Friday, February 27th and 28th

As you know, our school-wide Habits of Heart & Mind emphasis this past month  has been empathy. We define empathy as having the ability to understand another person's experiences, perspective and emotions.

For this spirit day, we encourage your children to come to school dressed in a way shows what empathy means to them. For some, this might be difficult to conceptualize, so here are a few examples:
-a student in Core 1 has been wearing sunglasses without the lenses to support her brother who just got glasses
-students may choose to dress alike (Twin Day concept) to show that they are mirroring, connecting and empathizing with each other.
-students could dress like someone embodies the essence of being empathetic (a family member, fictional character, historical figure, etc.).  Please note, we ask that students do not choose a someone from school to dress like because this unintentionally result in a parody.

We look forward to seeing what your kids come up with and, as always, we are grateful for your support in helping our kids understand and develop these non-cognitive traits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
