Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Michelle Hello everyone!

I want to give a huge thank you to Maryah and her colleagues at True Beauty Parlor, all of the families who participated in last week's Cut-a-Thon and two FAN parents, Laura Glasser and Nancy Slupski, for spending last Sunday making sure participating DVIA families were taken care of and able to use their credit cards at the event.

I also want to give a shout out to the DVIA kiddos who participated in the Kings and Queens of Chess tournament this past Friday evening.  I've seen pictures of our kiddos concentrating hard and being amazing sports as they competed with 120 colleagues from 10 local schools.  Our kids do amazing things!

Have an excellent week leading up to Exhibition.  Can't wait to see you on April 8th and 10th from 5-7pm!

Cheers!

Tyler's Two Cents

tyler two cents

We had a great time collaborating last month, and always, and for the month of April, we will be focusing on the habit of flexibility

Thankfully, being "flexible" at DVIA is much more than being able to touch our toes. At DVIA, we define flexibility as being willing to change our attitude or thinking based on different situations, problems, or settings.

As a child my mother would always tell me the phrase, "life's not fair." Although I don't think that she was actively trying to help me grow in my concept of being flexible in the situations that life presents, those words have had a big impact on my worldview.

While we can't always control what comes our way, we can contol how we perceive a situation and importnatly, how we respond.  Please support your child's development around flexibility this month by highlighting the different ways we can view situations and options for problem-solving.

What you need to know this week:

Summer Camp and Summer School!

Be on the lookout for information coming home this week  about DVIA's summer camp opportunities June 16-July 11, M-Th, from 12:00-3:00.  We have four exciting afternoon camps lined up and can't wait to see you there!  Limited spaces available so please register early!

We will also be running summer school for students who need  extra reinforcement over the summer.  Letters will be sent home late this week. Summer school will take place June 16-July 11, M-Th, 9:00-12:00.

We Need Your Cans & Bottles!

Collecting from March 31st to April 30th

To promote awareness of Earth Day and to help fund eco-friendly activities on campus, we are collecting your empty bottles and cans during the month of April.

Please bring your plastic bottles, glass bottles, and tin cans with a California Redemption Value symbol (5; CA CRV; and/or initials such as ME) to the designated collection site on the front lawn at drop off and pick up. We appreciate your support helping us raise awareness about the detrimental effects our waste has on our planet.
