Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Hello everyone!

The countdown to Exhibition is on! Campus is abuzz with the excitement (and chaos!) of Exhibition preparation. There are amazing projects happening in every classroom so next Tuesday, April 8th (T/F cohort) and Thursday, April 10th (M/Th cohort), please make sure to arrive by 5:00, have your learner ready to go and dressed in Exhibition appropriate attire, and plan to visit all cores to truly experience all that Exhibition has to offer.

We also encourage you to check out Exhibition at the Da Vinci High Schools at the following times:

Da Vinci Science:  Wed, 4/9, 6:00-8:00 pm

Da Vinci Design and Communications: Thurs, 4/10, 6:00-8:00 pm

Cheers!

M_Rainey sig

Tyler's Two Cents

tyler two cents

I, too, am looking forward to having conversations with your kids at Exhibition about all they have learned this semester.

In addition to Exhibition next week, we are also conducting the 5th and 7th grade Physical Fitness Test.  As a public school in California we are required to give this assessment, but even more than this, we at DVIA support this test as it teaches students movements that will help them lead healthy lives. This test involves students running, stretching, and doing several movements such as jumping jacks, push-ups, and leg raises.

If you are a parent of a current 5th or 7th grader, please make sure that your student comes to school all next week (April 7th-11th) with a water bottle, shorts, and a pair of shoes conducive to physical activites. Students will have time to change into their active clothing before the test begins and these assessments will take place during their seminar periods so they will not be missing their Core class time. If you have questions about these assessments, please email me.

What you need to know this week:

We Did It!!

Northrop, Belkin and Chevron challenged Da Vinci Schools to raise $45,000 -- and WE DID IT!

Thanks to your amazing support, we raised more than double our goal -- $106,340 in donations and pledges in addition to the $45,000 match. We are humbled that more than 325 families joined together toward a common goal. Your donations are being used for project based learning materials, technology, college visits and more.

The match has ended, but you can still make a gift. We are optimistic that donors will fulfill their pledges by June 1. To make a gift or complete your pledge, click here.

We Need Your Cans & Bottles!

Collecting from March 31st to April 30th

To promote awareness of Earth Day and to help fund eco-friendly activities on campus, we are collecting your empty bottles and cans during the month of April.

Please bring your plastic bottles, glass bottles, and tin cans with a California Redemption Value symbol to the front lawn at drop off and pick up.

T-Shirts For Sale At Exhibition

Our T/F Core 5 after-school math students have created a small business to learn more about making money. After a lot of hard work, including a Shark Tank-style event, the group has created DVTEES, a t-shirt that conforms to DVIA's dress code policy. Shirts will be on sale at Exhibition for $15.

And Bags, Too!

The same group is selling jute bags. Jute is a 100% natural bio-degradable fiber similar to burlap; it is sturdier and more
durable compared to other bags. Bags will be sold during both Exhibitions for $5.00. The
MatterBags booth will be located on the grass near the Wiseburn offices on campus. Every choice matters, so buy Matterbags!
