4-H Robotics Volunteer/
Leader Workshop

Through hands-on experience learn how to build, program and operate a robot using LEGO Mindstorms. Use this knowledge to teach other youth and get them involved in STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math)! No prior experience necessary. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to learn! This workshop will take place at Schuler Elementary School on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. A registration form plus $35 fee are due on Sept. 12 to the Dallas County Extension office. Help us celebrate our ties to Iowa State University
(and Cy's 60th birthday!) with our CyDay Friday tailgate on September 5 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. We'll be serving up hamburgers, hotdogs, sides and birthday cake! Play a round of cornhole, ladder golf or test your aim with our football target. We will be celebrating rain or shine

This evidence-based parent, youth and family skills-building curriculum prevents adolescent substance abuse, strengthens both parent/youth communication and problem-solving skills as well as increases academic success in youth-- while having fun together! SFP will run Sundays, October 5-November 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Waukee Middle School. A free meal will be provided before the class at 5 p.m. Registration costs $19 and can be completed online through Waukee Community Ed. Annie's Project is an educational program dedicated to strengthening women's roles in the modern farm enterprise. In this six class series, women farmers and ranchers will learn alternative problem-solving, record keeping and decision-making skills. A local offering of Annie's Project will take place Mondays, October 27-December 1 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at DMACC West Campus.  Good Agricultural Practices 
(GAPs) Workshop

 

On October 4 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Warren County Extension will be hosting a regional Level One

GAPs workshop for farmers who provide food directly to

consumers through CSA, farmer's

 markets or those considering retail food service sales. Extension specialists in food safety and value added ag, will review with "good agricultural practices" plus market considerations. Level Two, on October 18, will guide farmers in the development of a written farm food safety plan. Click here for registration and costs.
